You are right on the money with this comment. Mauser based actions need close tolerances and to be designed for the cartridge. And in fact most actions are not wide enough under the rails for the 500 Jeff. So compromises will have to be made.I've never owned a GMA action but I've heard they're wonderful. My CZ 500 Jeffery had some issues feeding initially, i had two gunsmiths polish the feed ramp, etc, but it wasmachining the magazine follower for the fatter cartridge did the trick. It now feeds and extracts slow, fast, upside down, never fails. As Nevada Mike said every part of a Mauser type action needs to be tailored for the cartridge. I believe the CZ magazine follower was the same as their 416 Rigby follower until my gunsmith machined it to fit the 500 Jeffery cartridge.
Thank You! .. i know a just a little about him through the surface web.I would give Ralf Martini of Martini Gunmakers a call. You won't find a better custom gunsmith anywhere.
Daniel,Is anyone familiar with "MNR Rifles"?
No, I do Thank you, respectively.Daniel,
In no way was I implying that you go out and purchase A Westley Richards. Just that they were the ones that had the Duane Wiebe rifle in 500 Jeffery that I posted to give a ballpark figure, for what a rifle would cost from a well known American maker that does outstanding work.
I do not know much about MNR but have seen photos and comments posted here from other Members. The rifles looked good but can’t find them.
I would surmise that if your ballpark number is known the membership would throw all kinds of options for you that you might not think of. This place is the ultimate information storehouse, people always help if they can.

I’ve worked with MNR. Matt is excellent. I had some issues with the magazine on a granite mountain arms 404 Jeffery. He got it working perfectly and also did a great job milling the receiver for smithson scope mounts and rust bluing the rifle. He is currently working on my 505 Gibbs built on a Vektor action. That rifle had some serious issues feeding and the bolt face got damaged. He is converting it to 500 Jeffery as I’m concerned that the bolt diameter is a bit too small for the Gibbs case and want to avoid the repaired area from breaking again. Is anyone familiar with "MNR Rifles"?
