Appears there might have been a fire at the factory

Not sure that it is true

Anyone with further info?

It’s unfortunately true. To make matters worse, today is Geoff McDonald’s birthday. They have no plans of rebuilding the factory.

I suspect that with Woodleigh gone, many traditional or rare calibers will slowly die out. Especially those with uncommon bullet diameters such as the .318 Westley Richards, .425 Westley Richards, .476 Westley Richards, .500/465 Holland & Holland. Ammunition companies who load their wares with Woodleigh bullets, will now have to look at other bullet manufacturers now to supply them. The only two companies who manufactured factory loaded ammunition for the .505 Gibbs ( Kynoch & Norma ) employed Woodleigh bullets exclusively.

That is, unless of course somebody else takes the mantle. I recommend that our fellow hunters should stockpile on as many Woodleigh bullets as they can get their hands on. Supplies will dry up soon.

Jeez....that's not good....any reason why they not going to rebuild?...
Let me ask. If I could make a guess, I’d say that the Chinese Virus had already hit their business hard. Last time I spoke to the people there ( in August ), they already had shortages of bullets in more than a few calibers and didn’t know when they would have them in stock again.

The factory fire was definitely a death blow.

OK....going to be a real shame if they do not rebuild and provide their products....definitely not good for the double rifles....and I like woodleighs as well ....but am a neanderthal.... :D Beers:

I can relate. I was hell bent to take my next African Cape Buffalo in 2022 with a .505 Gibbs and 600 Gr Woodleigh soft points. I normally use a .375 Holland & Holland Magnum during my safaris for most of the heavier stuff ( including Cape Buffalo ), but taking a Cape Buffalo with a .505 Gibbs has been on my bucket list for the last two years.

Wouldn't be any choice for me.....375... :E Horrified: ...or 505....:A Thumbs Up::D Beers:

Not good can’t find any Woodlieghs in Canada now, but I have a good stock pile of most of the ones I need. Hopefully someone will step up and make a similar Bullet for double rifles. Sad to hear this news.

Let’s make sure this did happen first of all.
If so, I’m sure Geoff will have the factory rebuilt ASAP.

Sad news for sure. .35 Whelen Bob and I were just talking about Woodleigh bullets.

There are some on Gunbroker but not in the cals I would use.

It definitely happened. The information was released by one of the long time employees at Woodleigh, Doctor. I can ask for a screenshot of the statement if you people would like to see it.

Dr Ray,
It's a sad day to hear this. I'm on a couple of forums and apparently there is many forum links but nothing online , or on news channels.

I also read Geoff's wife is hospitalized with smoke Inhalation. I think they said her name is Shirley

Sadly, I was looking in my cupboard thinking I would like to add some more Woodleigh Hydros for my .375, incase I need them.
I hope Geoff's wife is OK and they are in good spirits otherwise.
A little selfish but I hope they rebuild and have a business that can go long after Geoff hands over the reigns.
Geoff and the company have done extensive testing and development to get where they are.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
