Let's completely ignore that he's doing some good and focus on the fantastical idea that lions are innocent beings that might kill him one day. These are the types of people we younger folks would refer to as "Karens". And I guarantee that 99% of these people have never set foot on the dark continent yet they feel entitled to get angry about how conservation works in Africa.

With the wealth of knowledge at their finger tips, they only know how to judge on wrongly placed emotions. Times like these make reinforce the mantra "facts, not feelings"

Not only that, but they're willfully causing damage to the third world economies all because they don't like that a few dumbos and simbas are selectively harvested every few years. Yet they have no problem with Urban expansion in North America and Europe.

What are they referencing?... as doesn't mean much not knowing what's got up their noses...

And you can read their inane drivel in comments sections in multitudes of articles.. videos etc....occasionally read them.for amusement as nothing anyone says will alter their moronic mindset.....the worst is them gloating and what they put if a PH is killed....then it would be interesting for them to come out from behind their keyboards to play......:Vamp:

A video that didn't even have anything to do with hunting. Seriously these people are truly bizarre.

Ok see what they talking about....have to look at it from their perspective....they know zero about animal/lion behaviour compared to him....so can see how they thinking that if he got hammered the lions would be destroyed....as I said nothing anyone says will change their mindset.... :E Shrug:

The video shows only the Ivan Carter show.
I'm surprised he doesn't have any guests with.
And the circus he pulls off, although an otherwise sympathetic person, benefits no one.
Neither the animals nor the people.
Only the care of his brand.

In his show he walks up to the same pride over the same kill in the mid-day. He easily chases them off the kill. In the show he is showing how people can walk up to a lion kill during the afternoon hours when the cats are less aggressive and poison the kill. It is not so easy to approach a kill in the evening when all cats, including your house cat can go nuts. Unfortunately the whole segment is not shown.

That’s fair enough, but if only people could do just a tiny bit of research before making statements like that. If he were an average tourist that decided to jump out of a vehicle and attempt what he was doing, I’d agree.

Taking a kill away from lions must be the African thing to do.

Here hold my beer.

Foxi, in the times, very limited times, that I have worked with Ivan through DSC and my Outdoor Adventure Classes I have found him to be very passionate about telling the story of Sustainable Conservation. In this show, Ivan Carter's W.A.R, he does not hunt but he is constantly telling the audience that the conservation success in Africa is due to hunters' dollars.

It seems you have a different perspective on Ivan Carter and his work. Would you be willing to share examples of why you do not think he is helping in promoting the concept of Sustainable Conservation. Thanks :)

Carter's W.A.R. (Wild Animal Response)

But I can tell you that in Zimb is not all positive about him, and some of his PH colleagues think he is foolish when it comes to dealing with DG.

"You have to protect your clients, not to test wildlife" is their opinion.

"Ivan Carter stands alone as the one man who can peel back the complex layers of African human/wildlife conflict, including rampant poaching of elephants and rhinos".

and that he alone fights for it and others do not...........
I don't want to belittle his merits, but his PR is particularly successful.

Thank you for sharing.

I dealt with so much of this nonsense during Trophy - The Film. The masses, especially on social media, are 100% misinformed. Sad.

My PH, the late Wille Engelbrecht and I ran some lions off a buffalo kill in Botswana in 1990. He wasnt even armed, I was of course! He just walked up to them, probably a half dozen, starting yelling, waving his hat at them and off they went. I was stunned to say the least, a little concerned as well, being the only one with a rifle in hand.
He had the boys carve off a shoulder for camp meat and we left the rest to the lions.

Ivan is a very experienced professional Ph and guide. Passionate about conservatiin as well as hunting.

I personally feel he sometimes pushes the limts a bit much. You want to push the limits on your own fine, doing so with a client at your side by all means do so.....but not with your rifle over your shoulder all the time....

I have a lot of respect for him but I can tell you the differance between a real charge is when it stops...not before not after....rather be ready and safe...than sorry ..

My personal opinion....for what it is worth.....

I would 100% agree.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
