Wolves in Colorado!

Don't forget the LARGE population of wolves in northern Minnesota and to a lesser extent in Michigan and Wisconsin. They've been dealing with wolves since the early '90s?
Wisconsin wolf numbers are listed at over 1000 as of last year with wolves killing more deer than hunters in the northern counties.
I grew up in Michigan's U.P. and northern wisconsin.
I have family with a small piece of land but most of them barely hunt anymore as they see more wolves than deer.
Hunting was legal in Wisconsin 2012 and 2013 with over 250 wolves killed both years.

I can see this turning out just like the coyote populations. When I was in college, there were no coyotes East of the Mississippi.
I believe a usage license should be purchased by anyone who sets foot in the mountains with an education rider and a search and rescue rider just like hunters and fishermen have to pay. There are vastly more non hunters and non fishermen that get hurt or lost in the woods every year here.
If my daughter wasn’t ill or we could find qualified Drs in Wyoming, I’d move us there in a heartbeat!

Im not sure that you would have that much to gain Ridgewalker, since oil, gas, and coal have went in the crapper wyomings golden goose hasn't laid many eggs,in the past 2 or 3 years wyo has doubled the state tax on vehicle registrations, raised some property taxes kicked around implamenting a toll tax on 1-80.they are discussing a corparet income tax and apersonal state income tax at this time in the legislature, something we have never had because mineral severance taxes have always PAID THE BILLS, well that's not happening any more so they got to make it up somewhere.Im not sure what the future is for this state as far as hunting and fishing goes but Im dam glad ive had about 50 years of some of the best elk, deer, antelope and prediter hunting that a man could ask for. By the way when we need quality health care we go South down your way.

There never used to be coyotes in New England when I lived there. Now they are all over the place and the deer herds and cattle are being killed. That combined with winter kill and human encroachment does not paint a very pretty picture.

Don’t forget Wyoming drastically raising their tax on gasoline back in the late 90s. They used to have some of the least expensive gasoline/diesel in the country. My in laws and brother in law used to drive from north of Ft. Collins off US287 to fill up in Laramie. Not for many years now.

The end of CO elk hunting is in sight.

It it actually almost here.

South of I-70 there have been drastic cuts in tag numbers, where you once could purchase a over the counter either sex archery tag it is now bull only. The herd that lives near me is down close to 50% in the last 15 or so years. Two years ago while muzzle loader hunting for deer I saw more black bears than I did buck deer.

The CP&W are pointing fingers to about everything except for predators including people hiking in the calving grounds for the elk. Just this morning a local newspaper is reporting cougar sightings in a subdivision where elk frequent during the winter. In a area that used to have around 200 wintering elk is down to less than 50. And the wolves haven't even traveled here except for a lone one a number of years ago.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
