Namibia, Canada,
Looking at expanding my wish list for future hunts. Apart from Kudu, Zebra, Gemsbok, impala, steenbok, warthog, bushbuck, Eland, etc. Any recomations on lesser known animals that provide a great hunting experience. Thinking animals like Lechwe, Lichestin Hartebest, Thompson Gazelle, etc. Only plains game here- predators and big five are worthy but not on topic. Suggestions?

The duikers, caracal, night hunts and the small varmints. Not PG but the bird hunts are fun.

I think a free ranging Barbary sheep (aoudad) in the mountains would be cool

did that in the EC with Lalapa Safaris and it was very cool!

Hunted caracal and genet at night--excellent adventure!! Would love bush pig also! Mountain Reedbuck are cool critters also!

Dmyers

Just about all my bone & horn, as well as skull and fang fesroonings are now gone fron the house as the norweigan bride has never liked them anyway because after a while even I forgot what the hell the more self explanitory ones were.

Put the taxadermy guys here to work and have them make beautiful things that everyone will last forever.

Anything that you shoot in afrkca is a trophy here,

The "most" looked at and talked about animal in my room is a life size antbear. AArdvark from Namibia, not a real PG animal or real challenge but a target of opportunity. Nice room addition most do not have. After the normal PG, most get the urge to pursue the geographical specific species, dik dik, gerenuk, duikers, bush pig and even African ibex come to mind.

You have a good list to start with of your own and then the first five replies add some fine considerations!

All the “tiny ten” would be a challenge IMO. The reedbucks, common and several mountain species. Big dollar bongo, Livingston eland, mountain Nyala, etc.

Look at the Rowland Ward records list and throw a dart! If you have it, or it costs too much, throw the dart again.

Another example: I’ve already taken a croc, but I’d love to take another in a different place. Find something you really enjoyed hunting and do it again.

Another option: give me your funds and I’ll test places and hunts out and let you know what you should have hunted:ROFLMAO::LOL::D! I’m bad I know!:(

after seeing a herd in Kruger, I want a Tsessebe, but not from a small pen in a high fence... Have you got the Wildebeeste's? Especilly black, Hartebeest's, Reedbucks, Fallow deer, Tiny Ten YES! Bushpig as well as red river hog and giant forest hog. A really big Wart Hog if you don't have one.

I took a really nice Lechwe in South Africa and wish I hadn't. Just no challenge. Should have held out to take one in their natural environment. That goes for everything, take them in their indigenous areas.

ActionBob your right about warthog except I have two fine ones, but I want another just a little better. Not sure why I like those ugly buggers! I rarely see them when they’re not running full out.

I'll second the idea about wing shooting. Sand grouse on the beam into a water hole at sundown is hard to beat. And guinea will at times challenge the best shooters. And the way francolins know exactly the route to fly to put a bush in between is uncanny. Also, don't overlook the fishing- which can be superb.

Elephants and buffalo and kudu are easy, try Grysbok and Klippspringer!

Half joking, the little guys have bested me every time. You MUST make a play on them if they ever present an opportunity.

I am an addicted wing-shooter. Truth be told, I'd be happy spending 3 days hunting something like impala and warthog and 7 days just walking around with shotgun hunting birds and checking out cool bugs, lizards, and flowers/plants.

You might find crow hunting with an electronic call a fun side hunt. The action can be fast and furious at times.

Hyena, Bushpig, Tsessebe, Lechwe, Common and Mountain Reedbuck, Roan, Sable, Aoudad, Scimitar Oryx.

Adding to @Nyati IF your intention is to legally hunt what you can, while you can, these animals are on the short list to be further restricted or banned:

Cheetah
Giraffe
Spotted Hyena
Black Faced Impala
Blesbok/Bontebok (one of the two, I always mix them up)
Leopard
Oribi

If you want to hunt a CITES regulated species such as the above, you probably ought to do it sooner than later. Ten years ago, Spotted Hyena was FREE on your hunts, I've seen prices as high as $4500 trophy fees for this animal recently.

Some of the others listed (and I think some of the obscure tropical duikers?) are already CITES animals that require special permits. A.) Those permits may go away, B.) The import permits to USA may be ended, C.) The anti's will eventually win the legal battle to make all CITES permit applications/approvals public so anyone that hunts will be "doxxed" and threatened.

Surprised not to see Vaal Rhebuck mentioned already, although mentioned via the tiny ten. Blue duiker, gray duiker and Steenbuck will also add some variety. As mentioned look at Klipspringer and the various reedbucks. Perhaps a springbok slam? A good Bushpig can take some doing as well. Some many choices. Good luck.
