New Ruger M77 African in 9.3x62 caliber

I’ve bought all 3 so far. Any guesses as to which cartridge will be next year’s run? A 300 H&H would fill the gap nicely.

+1 on the 300 H&H and that would be my guess. I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped an 8x57 or 7x64 either. I emailed them a couple of times suggesting the 9.3. If we all blow up their email with 300 H&H suggestions, they may do it.

I would also love to see them bring out a Hawkeye African in 300 H&H.... But how is that going to happen? They don't have the tooling to make true magnum legth actions. That is one of the main reasons if not the reason why they developed the 375 & 416 Ruger cartridges to work in 30-06 length actions.

Hooe I'm wrong, but I'm afraid all the wishing and emailing in the World will not bring Ruger to spend the money on new tooling to make a run of 250 rifles. :confused:o_O

Yeah I forgot the OAL was so much more and I agree that it wouldn't make sense to setup tooling for 250 rifles but it's not because they don't have it, they definitely have it. Hell they were still making RSM's in 375 h&h 458 lott and 416 rigby after the 375 ruger was released. They are currently making rifles in 338 lapua.

all that said, the 300 h&h will fit in a long action with few mods. they could definitely do it.
Pretty cool article:

Guys, my brother just bought one these, but in .375 Ruger. He bought from Corlanes Sporting goods in Dawson Creek BC. Do you think his may be affected by the 'recall'? How would he know?

I hope your right and they make a run in 300 H&H, but I'm still sceptical that it will happen.

As for the 338 Lapua, isn't that only in the Ruger Precision Rifle? Somehow I don't think that action is going to work on an African model;)

I read the article you attached, very interesting (y)

That 375 Ruger would not be one of the special run. That is a standard offering in the lineup. So unlikely it is affected. But he can call Ruger's customer service department with his serial number and I'm sure they can tell him for sure.

I don't think they'll do it either. Ruger is too "plug and play" anymore. Their actions are still tough as nails but the fine work isn't there anymore either. The older actions felt like model 70's, now they are pretty loose during the bolt stroke, they lock up tight and are still tack drivers (for what they are) but not the same. I still love em though and will continue to give them my money if they keep spitting out cool traditional chamberings like the 275 and 9.3.

yeah the 338 lapua was just in reference to being able tool larger stock.

Got mine on Monday. The seller was good enough to send it back to Ruger and arranged to have them send it to my FFL;)
Unfortunately I had to leave on a business trip so I got home, locked it in the safe and took off. Gonna have to catch up on shooting one of these days... I have not shot the 6.6x55 either. Good news is that I did get to break in the 275 Rigby in Africa :)

Got the call that mine is in also, been working too late to be able to pick it up

All right one of you go shoot your gun.

Mounted a Leupold VX-1 2-7x33mm (wide-duplex) on #3/#4 Ruger rings. (Ruger provided the #3, Gratis)

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
