So good and bad. I’m happy with how the Sauer 100 did at 200 yards off the bench with the Norma Oryx 286 grain. (Ignore the flyer). I know there are guys that can shoot way better than this, but off some sandbags on a June day in SE Texas....I’ll take it.

On the downside, the stock was not relieved correctly to allow clearance when the bolt handle was lifted. Also had light primer strikes with Norma and S&B ammo, fail to feed with S&B, Norma, and Lapua.

On the upside, I called Baser USA and they were extremely helpful and told me to send in for replacement stock and to solve the other problems. Very impressed with their customer service and will not hesitate to buy Sauer/Blaser in the future.

I picked one up once and put it straight down, ended up buying a 202 but sold it pretty quickly. But that's all personal preference, glad you found Sauer good to deal with. All the best.

I just need to nut up, take a year, and save up for an R8. Idk if I can ever sell a gun I take in first safari and with the old man, so I need to decide about this one pretty quick

I'll give you my honest opinion, not that you've asked for it haha

My brother owned an R8 and I owned a 202. We both wanted a classy European rifle. After a short time we both sold them and vowed never to buy another gun based on simply owning a "name"

Granted I'd betray that in a heartbeat for a John Rigby and co if I could afford it!

But we now run a kimber and sako respectively as our working rifles and are much happier.

You buy a nice rifle like these and for starters they're bloody heavy which is impractical for mountain hunting which we do. Also you don't ever want to scratch them so we always ended up over cautious which was distracting on a hunt. I also couldn't come to love the feel of either of them, maybe I'm just not able to appreciate nice things though who knows!

But they're bloody nice and if it's your thing I'm sure you'd love it and never want to part with it.

These days I get a lot more pleasure out of high end optics than high end bang sticks. But each to their own.

Keen to see down the track how it all goes mate

I’m always open to hearing people’s opinions on guns, especially expensive ones. I have eyed Kimbers and CZ and Winchester’s as well. May be better off just buying a working gun and spending the money towards safaris.

If I’m being honest with myself, I’ve got a safe full of rifles from .223 up to .300 RUM and all the in between. Dad is giving me the .375 Ruger after this hunt and I’ve got the 9.3 (assuming we get all the bugs worked out), so I think at some point it seems like I would be buying just to buy, like you said, just to have a name.

Glad they are making it right sir. Now to take that rifle out and do some business with it.
