Thanks for the heads up.

Much appreciated!

I got took on a counterfeit Leupold Mark 4 at auction once, it was one of those last minute bring from the back deals. Paid half what a real one was worth, paid for it and knew it was a fake. Auction house manager laughed at me and said buyer beware. I made out great on a couple of Unertle scopes at that sale so it wasn't so bad. I still beat the hell out of that manager about a year later at the pub. Smart ass beware is a better motto to live by.
Thanks for the Tip!

Yeah I read about the Leupold issue a year or two ago. If I remember correctly the only way to tell the difference was something to do the writing on the gold ring on the bell. As they say "If it's too good to be true then it probably is"

The bell was perfect, the scopes all had the same serial number. I was 5 rows back when the scope came out. It looked good and the money was right. I had just bought the others at less than half their price on the market. But yes, if it is to good to be true, don't get in the buyer frenzy! Lol

So are they any good? If all that's different is the writing??? lol

I got took on one of those fake Leupolds, too.

I called the guy up and read him the riot act. Paid $400 and got half my money back.

I put in a low bid and figured if I win, ok. Well, not ok once the thing showed up!

Live and learn. I don't do that anymore!

Yeah, at best a 200 buck scope. I put it on a .22 for my kid. My understanding is that the scope was manufactured for one of those air soft rifles in a sniper rifle configuration. All of them have all 888888 serial numbers. Live and learn, at least the Internet makes instant ID easier. Looked at a Remington Rand 1911a1 today that was a fine counterfeit and I honestly believe the owner didn't know it. I told him he best not try to sell it as the real deal, someone not as kind as myself might just stuff it up his ass.

I have my counterfit on a 22 Hornet. I had it out late last Saturday hoping for a coyote. Light transmission in low light is extremely poor. I may just throw it away!

I certainly would not trust in on anything with recoil!

I remember when they were selling those fake Leupold's and I thought no way in hell I'll buy it.
There is no way anyone is capable of making a Leupold other than Leupold!

I was cruising ebay and saw what looked (at a glance) to be a Leupold. Saw only a bid or two and they were low. Figured I would low-ball it and maybe get lucky.

Guess I got what I deserved!
