Horn Shapes

I was wondering if others prefer different horn shapes? I like nyala that turns back out at the top, eland that are V shaped and not straight, kudu points that turn out, gemsbok that are straight horned and slightly V shaped, impala that viewed from the side are S shaped and turn out at the top. I t's more important to me than length, am I the only one with this horn fetish ?

No, I too have a preference for horn or trophy shape and what I consider to be the perfect trophy for me.
Everyone will have different opinions on what floats their boat.
I prefer a narrow kudu head with curls that look like curls, not just twists. I don't like the wide 'V' shape although I can admire and appreciate it.
I too like long and straight gemsbock with thick bases, again narrow as opposed to wide.
Conversely I like a wide springbok with a heart shape to the horns.
I'm also not beyond liking the oddities that nature throws up too as they're unique.

At the end of the day, I don't hunt to a specific criteria. I appreciate whatever animal my PH advises me to take and would rather shoot the right animal over and above the best one.

I agree. Also really like ivory tips. Heavy horns with character and good tips.

Sometime the look of the cape means as much to me as the horns. Springbuck and nyala I like a certain shape but must others I have changed in my mind as I see them in the field. I an also a fan of the freaks or non typical stuff but have not seen to many when hunting.

Frankly I like them all if I shoot them. But seriously when it cones to Kudu I like the the wide frames that some have. I also appreciate the freaks of nature.

is this the kind you are talking about? Marius (KMG) told me about this one he had seen a few times and how it was special like that. He said we could likely shoot a "regular" shape that was bigger, but this was really cool and wasn't small by any stretch. So we decided to try for him. Busted on morning hunt, we got him on the afternoon hunt.
In 2 trips, He put me on quite a few special animals.
