After my last trip and taking friends with me on the hunt I found the hunt a lot more fun. I have seen were guys wanted someone to go on a trip but no one really made the effort to do it. I was thinking once I get my plans made for sure to see if anyone would like to come with.

Last trip there was 5 of us for the first 10 days and 3 of us stayed another 7 days at a second place. I am not sure at this point who is going back. Depending on the area it could easily be 6 guys and still have plenty of room.

So who would be up for hunting with someone they don't know or hunting in a group of up to 6 hunters.

Even if you have comment about doing a hunt like this on your own with guys it would be good to hear. Letting guys know just might make it able to find someone willing to go.

As long as the actual hunting is 1x1, I enjoy meeting new folks around the campfire. My bullshit meter is set pretty high, so others' mileage may vary.

On my 2013 trip, the PH's wife joined us for a day/night and a friend of his (biltong hunter) and his wife joined us. It made for good conversation and nice company.

Agree. I really enjoy a spirited campfire. But even when I hunt with my son, we are 1x1 with guides or PHs.

I would and have considered it under the right circumstances. Down the road a bit it may be a reality. Especially on some rougher hunts.

It would be nice to meet at least once before committing.

I think at the very least a few conversations on the phone and one would be able to tell if people will be able to at least tolerate each other. If at all possible though a meeting would be ideal. I have often wondered about this type of hunt though as none of my hunting buddies dream of Africa like I do. It could be really fun if the right people are involved.

www.africahunting.com/dating....

Just kidding.

Actually, I think it a very reasonable idea. When I decided to get into hunting it was not easy finding like-minded folks to hunt with. Really, it is about getting the folks you know here to congregate at the same camp. Sounds cool.

I myself could do a hunt like this 1x1 or 2x1. I think guys could meet at a show before deciding also. Between phone calls and emails I would be ok I think. The 5th guy who went on are last trip I only talked on the phone to once but he knew my other friend from work.

I just know a lot of guys think about going but don't want to go on there own. Plus with a good group you can get some better deals also.

Or at least see what color camo a guy is going to wear.... :A Stirring:

Again a guy making a comment but not telling all the facts. LOL its ok my brother in pink you will man up soon enough

Being a first timer and having someone else to go with to share in the experience with would be huge. A person can read all about what to expect but without having done it there are bound to be a few "surprises". It's better to share those surprises with someone. I also thought that a group discount would allow me to get there sooner rather than later. Being around like minded hunters and sharing experiences would be great.

There you go again, jumping to a foregone conclusion!

I obviously meant sometimes guys wear a woodlands camo blend when they should have on Mossy Oak. This is especially important when huntimg 2-1 as suggested by you above. ;)

In all seriousness though, I would consider it with the right folks. It is definitely better that you know someone first, but that doesn't always mean anything either. My best friend growing up and I lived together in college. We almost killed each other....

Now what would be even harder, but not impossible, is to do couples. If that is involved I would definitely want to have spent time together first.

just a slight word of caution,...... as i know of very good friends falling out totally when one got better trophies, or trophies the other didnt get at all. this not a one off either and these were people who had known each other for a long time.

I could see that happening spike but I think that is a rare deal really. As long as some basic ground rules are layed out for all to follow and the right guys go I think it could work and be a blast. Any one who has hunted enough will know luck has a lot to do with getting a bigger trophy.

The main key would be nipping right away any problems that come up not letting them build tell they blow up.

I think it would be great to find another hunting couple to share camp and some conversation, good food and cool drinks. The wife and I always hunt 2x1 as we like to be there for each other's hunt. I agree though as couples you would want to know each other first

You don't have to be lonely.....at bigboreonly.com
Probably would be a blast, and the nice thing about a trip to Africa is everyone could go to their rooms after the fire.
Prolly wouldn't work if everybody had to snuggle in a tent in BC. Lmao

I cannot see this being an issue to me but I do think it was very worth while to bring up. And when brought up by an experienced outfitter or PH, I do think it is worth consideration when making such plans. I also heard this from other outfitters, and I have heard still others comment that they make an effort to manage the potential issue.

One suggestion is to mix up species as much as possible to avoid that direct comparison. That is what I saw a couple other guys do who were hunting together. It might also have helped that one lived in the Midwest and the other on the East Coast.

I think before a person signs on for something like this, he owes to himself and his compatriots to do some soul searching and make sure he is up for the potential issues that may come up. And to be prepared to simply make the best of it and not become too let down if another guy has better luck.

Couples could be a lot of fun but realize that with couple there are 4x the odds of having issues come up so it is best to know everyone first. I do want to do this with my youngest brother and his wife as I know we will all have a blast.. .But they are 13 years younger and have 4 kids to get through college...

I think that typifies why we are discussing this. Too often our closer friends and relatives are in different stages of life and finances.

And I for one just do not think I would have as good a time alone. Especially without really knowing the PH well.

I wouldn't mind partnering up..I suppose it would depend on the person,,Large Breasts would be a Plus:K Booby:

This could set the stage for an Annual AH Members hunt! Set a max number of hunter/couples. Every year visit a AH sponsors concession and rotate sponsors. Depending what year you can go, book the spot in advance. Go every year or what year that you can. I would venture to guess the members would vary every year. PG in SA and Namibia should be easy to organize. This could be changed up to include buffalo/plains game in Zim/Moz/Zam. Maybe even expand it to OZ and Argentina? This could be fun guys.
