Well said!Great googly moogly.
I saw it late last night called this morning and was told it was sold.I agree. It had 29# barrels and 5 sights, including a ladder sight. 14.5" LOP. That would be the ultimate deer double rifle for an American.
It was listed yesterday and sold in a nano-second.
Here on AH you can watch the classified but on GI and GB you need to scour. I could work a part-time job with the time I scour GB and GI each week.are there alerts you can set to let you know the moment something is listed? Or do you have to scour the internet with the morning coffee daily?
Weren’t these just priced at $799.99 a week or two ago?EuroOptic.com - Leupold VX5 - 899.99
Got a bunch of these scopes in right now, discontinued pricing.. They have a $150 credit available on them as well
Were they willing/able to sell it over the phone? Otherwise, first one to the door.I saw it late last night called this morning and was told it was sold.

I’ve actually come around on this. I do not buy much anymore, but can appreciate if someone does the legwork and finds a sleeper at auction (at perhaps a small auction house) and it gets posted somewhere—like here— and gets much more exposure, that could be extremely frustrating. First of all, of course the gun could not be considered “a good deal” listing it here in an auction context, but I have come to agree with you (and others) that it is poor form to post auction items. I have purchased one rifle at auction that I was watching for over a month or so that was mentioned on this thread about a week prior to the auction end. I still was able to purchase it for less than I perceived the value to be, but it is possible that I paid more for the rifle in the end. Here on AH you can watch the classified but on GI and GB you need to scour. That's also why people posting auction links here is so frustrating. Most other forums and sites prohibit doing so and only allow fixed priced items to be posted.

The well know or big items like Cal or Tom’s rifles typically don’t go to small auction houses but I understand that point.I’ve actually come around on this. I have talked about some rifles with @rookhawk and he specifically requested I did not post a link to the item. This is completely understandable! I do not spend much time looking for rifles anymore, but for those who do, I understand it would be extremely frustrating to have someone post an auction here and increase traffic/eyes on that auction. Again, an active auction item cannot be a “good deal” (although it may ultimately end up that way), and may cost a member here significant money. If a member here has an item at auction, I think it is appropriate for them to bring attention to that item. In the scenario of someone like Tom Ordes or Cal’s well known rifles coming up for auction, with proceeds going to their family, I see that as a little different analysis as far as broadcasting those auctions.
Again, doesn’t really affect me, but I have come around on it and personally do not believe active auction items should be referenced. My personal beliefs are worth less than .02, but there you have them.![]()
Has anyone else spotted this one yet?

For what it’s worth I saw that gun in person last Friday when my wife and I were visiting JJ… the pictures don’t do it justice… it is an absolute work of art…JJ has a best grade Purdey Self Opening Sidelock in 500BPE for sale for under 8 grand. I'd get that thing cleaned up ever so slightly and use a nitro load at black powder pressure levels and a 440gr bullet to put the whoop on all manners of non-dangerous game.
