I just recently acquired this new Sako 90 Hunter in 375 H&H. This Hunter model in 375 is largely unavailable in the USA, so I was lucky to snag this one from a dealer who made a large international order from Sako. As you can see it has the straight stock with pancake cheek piece. I haven’t fired it or even mounted a scope yet, but I have cycled a few rounds through it and it feeds very well. While it isn’t a CRF rifle, it does have dual plunger ejectors, which eject the cartridges out at a near 90 degree angle. I do believe this will take care of the ejection problem they sometimes experienced with the model 85.
Weight is 7lbs 15oz.
Barrel length is 24.5”
I’m looking forward to shooting it and reporting back.

Congrats on new baby!
I was waiting for a sako 90/375 report to show up on forum!

Looking fwd to range report!
Which scope you will fit? What mounts? Or will it stay on iron sights only?

Not sure what scope I’ll be mounting. The model 90 uses Tikka style scope mounts. They’ve gone away from the tapered dovetail and have went with straight grooves like the Tikka T3X. I’m thinking Optilock will be best, but I’m looking into some form of QD rings if I can find them.

Beautiful rifle, and congrats on the find. (y)

Is it drilled and tapped as well as grooved?

Like the Tikka?

If so, Talley and Warne should have the bases.

Making QD rings an easy choice.

Nice looking gun, hopefully they'll release a model with some larger calibers at some point. Looking forward to your range report

Leopold Backcountry bases for the Tikka T3x should work. They would accept Warne QD rings.

I’m confused…

I thought we only got to see kitchen counter gun porn when there was a price tag affixed?

:D

Gorgeous rifle....what is a pancake cheek piece?

No sir. It only has the grooves set up for optilock bases. You can see it in the picture above where I have it on the scale.

Yep, new type of rings and bases. You can see the recoil stop on the top of the front receiver ring. A strong and elegant design.

Man she's pretty! Congrats on the new addition!

Nice rifle, love any Sako :D Cheers:

Nice gun. Did your dealer say when they will be releasing higher end models like the Classic, Deluxe or Bavarian? I did notice the new scope mounting, to me a downgrade to use the Tikka system.

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
