Sako 90 Hunter 375 H&H

Beauty of a rifle @TOBY458. Love the straight comb on the stock over the hogback.

Nice gun. Did your dealer say when they will be releasing higher end models like the Classic, Deluxe or Bavarian? I did notice the new scope mounting, to me a downgrade to use the Tikka system.
Agreed. Now a base is needed for the QD to latch to instead of the rings dovetailing directly into the receiver.

Congratulations, nice. But is 3,6kg a bit light, with scope you are about 4,3kg.

The Bavarian is already out in the USA. I don’t care for the stock on those, so I waited until I found the Hunter version for that reason. Apparently the Hunter models are mostly unavailable in the USA in 375 caliber.

I’m not overly thrilled about the scope mounting choices as of yet. Even though the rifles they’re making with pic rails on top don’t look as good as these rifles, it sure does make it easy to mount a scope with many more options to choose from.

I think Warne makes some vertical split QD rings that will clamp on directly to the rifle. But I’m not a fan of vertical rings.

I had Warne vertical rings on my CZ550 and they worked perfectly. Your call.

I like a 375 to end up at around 8.5-9 lbs scopes. So this one should be pretty close to that with a lighter weight scope.
I like the lighter weight of my SAKO 85L .375H&H (Left Hand) with a Nightforce Scope. I’m not recoil sensitive and shoot it as well as any of my rifles…

I’m confused…

I thought we only got to see kitchen counter gun porn when there was a price tag affixed?

:D

I'd give it 6 months. He'll kill something with this new rifle, and then on the kitchen counter she will go. :ROFLMAO:

Toby,

I have three sets of Warne QD, vertically split rings.

On a 308, a light 375, and a 416 Remington.

All have held zero perfectly and returned to zero within half moa or less.

I think you should try them on your new Sako.

I agree they are kinda of a pain to get the scopes mounted, but once you’re done you’re done in my experience.

Thanks! I’ll check and see if they make them for the Sako 90. It has a Tikka style scope base on top.

Not sure what scope I’ll be mounting. The model 90 uses Tikka style scope mounts. They’ve gone away from the tapered dovetail and have went with straight grooves like the Tikka T3X. I’m thinking Optilock will be best, but I’m looking into some form of QD rings if I can find them.
Toby I use the Optilock ring and mounts on my Sako 85 Grizzly. I like them. They are very easy to remove with T-25 Torx and seem to hold zero. I look forward to see your thoughts about the rifle after you have shot it for a while.

Yes sir. That’s what I use on my Sako 85 Kodiak 375. They do work well. The Sako 90 doesn’t have the tapered receiver up top, but has the straight 17mm arrangement like the Tikka. So I could use optilock for it as well, but wish they made a QD version that doesn’t require a wrench to take off.

I thought the exact same thing!!! Toby is becoming quite the tease!!!

There have been some Bavarians released. I've seen a few online.

Congratulations on the rifle! Very curious to hear your report. I'm a huge Sako fan and I've been wanting a 375.
