Politics

Not sure if anyone on the politics thread has an interest in ancient history (or alternate history) but two rather amazing findings have come about in recent years that are turning history on its head.

Early civilization has always been of interest to me because I found conventional archeologies accounts to be rather dubious. Specifically, I hate the conventional explanation for the notion that Egypt's earliest pyramids are the very best ever constructed, everything got worse thereafter even though made by the same culture, AND the Clovis-First hypothesis that says they got here first and in successive waves of genius and imbecile, the Americas cultures were founded by primitive savages and absolute geniuses during similar timelines.

Much of the conventional support for Egypt's origins about 4500 years ago is based on the notion of there being no earlier megalithic civilizations. Mainstream archaeology has found an incredible site in Turkey called Gobleki Tepi that has turned history on its head. Mainstream archaeology thinks its at least 11,000 years old, either extending the potential age of Egypt or at least showing a preceding ancient civilization. Either way, really interesting.

More recently, the Clovis-first hypothesis as the first settlers of the Americas got its ass handed to it by an incredible find of ancient footprints found at White Sands Missile Base in New Mexico. Mainstream archeology now says these footprints are at least 23,000 years old.

Ancient history is getting rewritten and its very cool. It's political as far as the gatekeepers of conventional history are having to rethink their consensus.

Not fake news. It's straight from what he put up on his Truth social media. His words. Nobody is making it up. I'm not sure anyone could make it up. The guy spews nonsense constantly. And it's clearly him writing the stuff. His sixth grade articulation is impossible to imitate (though the late night show hosts and comedians can make it a close run thing).
It's really sad when an elderly man gets his News and Opinion from watching The View.

Dated one graduate student in Austin, only to find out she was a sugar baby and seeing much older men because her surgeon father wouldn't buy her the Louis Vuitton bags and the new AMG Mercedes she wanted and a large swath of her socialite sorority sisters were doing the same.

My buddy is currently dating a legitimate beauty pageant queen that went to a large state university and I brought up the sugar baby thing to her and she fervently agreed....

"Oh yeah, I'd say almost a third of my better looking sorority sisters were doing that!"
This is nothing new. My next door neighbor at Newport Beach, CA (in the late 1990s and early 2000s) used to pay tuition and expenses along with the use of a Porsche 911 of a college co-ed that lived with him. When one graduated, she'd pass him onto one of her friends. We used to joke that he had a scholarship program for UCI co-eds. :ROFLMAO:

To be honest that is not that much different than dating. You buy gifts, pay for travel and dates etc., etc..

If you decide to stick with just one, then you marry her to guarantee sole access and still keep paying.

No doubt and I'll do you one better.......

The last company I worked for in Austin was a real hell hole and the majority owner was "dating" the 27yo single mother of 3 who was head of HR and bought her a house; he was also paying the tuition, apartment and "consulting fees" to the 22yo daughter of his head accountant... who was both female and aware of their relationship.

The difference today is that there is online access.

Hey, it's his social media site. He controls what's posted on it ... especially his own posts.

My brother in Montana told me he votes for Trump because he says what's going through his mind. Doesn't matter to him that it's nonsense. Umm ... okay then. How hard can the blinders get strapped on?

I see the senator from Alaska who's here to try to make some sense of Trump's day to day tariff threats and no threats is on record as saying his incessant senseless blabbering about making Canada the 51st state is "not constructive." How observant! That gal is a breath of fresh air. May be some hope for GOP yet. A glimmer of hope anyway.

There is no gal from Alaska in Congress who is a "breath of fresh air". She is not GOP. The GOP in Alaska, in the last election, backed someone else, so uninspired by her "GOPness" were they with her.
Should have been easy homework for you. Lisa Murkowski is GOP senator from Alaska. Google her. Or maybe her govt website is fake news? :D

Who does she caucus with again?

You better run and have the party correct the error on their website then.

My guess is that @Ontario Hunter should spend a little less effort celebrating the passage of the 21st amendment prior to posting.
No, I suspect he just likes throwing bait into the water.

I repeat: the Alaska Republican Party did not endorse her during the last election cycle. They backed a different Republican because they do not believe she holds with core Republican values. Murkowski was elected through the sham that ranked choice voting is and that Alaska, regrettably, has. Most Republicans in Alaska do not consider her a Republican. You need to dig a little deeper on your homework.

you might want to do a little research... assigning homework to others when you clearly havent done any yourself is a bit ridiculous dont you think?

Murkowski may call herself a Republican.. that doesnt mean she actually is one any longer..

She doesnt caucus with the Republican party, the Republican party does not endorse her any longer, and as recently as 3 weeks ago she went public stating she was giving consideration to caucusing with the Democrats from now on..

During the Obama Administration she voted with D's 72% of the time..

During the Biden Administration she voted with D's 67% of the time.

Only Collins has voted left more often than Murkowski of all currently serving people that call themselves R's..

Even more interesting about Murkowski than her declaring herself a Republican when it is very clear that she much more often supports Democrat legislation actions is just what a total waste of breath of a Senator she actually has been...

Shes been in office since 2003.. in 22 years she has introduced legislation exactly ZERO times that has been passed into law..

It amazes me that AK continues to put her into office.. she literally has accomplished next to nothing in 22 years other than getting on TV to run her suck a couple of times a year about how much she hates whatever initiative the R party is taking..

I'm sure the Trumplodites find her common sense repugnant. But the people of Alaska, a famously Republican state, thought enough of her to put her back in office. They had a choice. That makes her the bona fide Republican senator from Alaska. If she was so reviled by all of Alaska Republicans for somehow sneaking on the ballot, they should have been able to put up a successful write-in candidate. I believe her trade mission to Canada is sanctioned by US govt, either Trump or Congress? Both are Republican.

I find it refreshing that Murkowski doesn't blindly vote straight party every time. Similarly I respect any Democrat legislator who votes his conscience (and his state's best interest) ahead of party line dictates. This blind partisan bullshit is killing democracy.

Ranked voting keeps her in office.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
