REPORT: Has Anyone Used Splitting Image Taxidermy?

I was going to use them but after reading this I am not so sure, will have to find someone in the East Cape to use now

Well, they come highly recommended and they have been pretty consistent on communicating where they are at in the process but I definitely did not think it would take this long. I was led to believe it would be about 14 months but we are 17 months out now. I am going to email them this week to get an update.

Hi All
Still waiting on mounts that were shot in Aug 23 to ship from SIT ,19months
Using Lauriston Taxidermy in Grahamstown this time for the animals shot in Aug 24 . Have been told they will be done by start of may this year .

Mine were May of 23, supposedly they are in the crating phase as of a week or so ago.

Mine were shot in August 2023 and I got an email from them last week saying they were moving to the final mounting phase.

My sons and my euros and flatskins arrived last year. I would say on time, 12-14 months. We had two kudu, gemsbok, eland, sable euros and 3 flatskins. Packed and Crated perfectly. Euros look good, flatskins done nicely. Can’t complain on price, communication or work done.

Lauriston freaking rocks. Low key, low prices, fast, friendly. Zero issues X 2.

They've had my capes and final instructions since October 2023. They told me they should be finished by June of this year but according to their mounting phase timelines, they won't be finished until the end of the year.. Good communication but I'm eager to get it all back.

Still waiting on my Buff from July ‘23. Dip and pack and a skull pedestal mount. I hope the work is exceptional

Got my trophies after (nearly) a 2 year wait, and the results are great! Very pleased with the results.
My only complaint was learning how expensive it was after leaving Splitting Image Taxidermy to get my trophies back home. It cost almost as much as the taxidermy!

I toured the SI facility. Met the owner and from the 200 or so finished heads I saw the work looked very good.
I got an estimate for finished taxidermy or dip/pack with shipping.
I chose dip and pack because the costs including shipping for finished work were higher than if I did the taxidermy in Montana with my excellent father son team in Red Lodge Mt.
I think that if you don’t have a great taxidermist where you are and don’t mind spending a bit more SI is a one stop alternative that simplifies your taxidermy experience.
I believe that doing taxidermy close to home is preferable when quality is prime reason. Shit happens during this process.
Shipping is continually increasing and there are many people involved in the process who will charge amounts that you cannot control.

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
