Was watching an old movie today with Robert Mitchum, Jack Hawkins and the lovely Elsa Martinelli called RAMPAGE. Just a fair movie, but I noted that early on Elsa and Hawkins were carrying their rifles in Capstick fashion, rifle to front, strap to rear.
I had never seen that in a movie before and this was made in 1963, a year after Elsa appeared in Hatari with John Wayne.

For those not familiar with the "Capstick carry" or whatever it should be called?... :)

Just a fair movie by today's standards? Not sure I have seen that one...Maybe I should add to my watchlist!?

Yep, thats where I saw it. Pretty sure I saw it as a kid too being a Bad Bob fan.

Looks like a tighter sling version of the traditional European carry. Yours very truly doing the Teutonic thing with a R93 in the Alps. By the way, those are leather stiefel hosen (boot pants) that I have used and worn for twenty plus years.

That's really cool, I think he's been on all week "TCM". "The Night of the Hunter" with Shelly Winters was creepy, pretty intense. Cheers!

Thats a good movie, but he was never better than as the evil Max Cady in Cape Fear., not the crappy remake with DeNiro, but the original with Gregory Peck and Polly Bergen.
Without question his best role in the movies.
