I wonder if anyone would consider a rebarrel to 416 Taylor? (Heresy, I understand, but feasable?)
Heresy? My dear Aussie, I have a semi custom Interarms Whitworth in .416 Taylor. 23" barrel, nice walnut stock, shoots where you aim with open sights. Although I like my CZ 550 .416 Rigby, the Taylor is much more pleasant to shoot with the same ballistics as my Rigby. If Winchester hadn't dropped the ball in producing factory Taylor ammo in the early '70s after they and Ruger built prototype rifles for the Taylor cartridge, my guess is the .416 Remington and maybe the .416 Ruger, would have never seen the light of day. Unlike the Remington, one can use .338 WINCHESTER MAGNUM or .458 WINCHESTER MAGNUM (among others) brass to form the Taylor brass with one stroke of the press. No scrambling around and taking out a bank loan to buy .416 Remington (or 8mm) or .416 Ruger brass. Keeping it simple is blissful. LOL

I was considering the lever-action variant; imagining it against a Cape Buff with solids
