Depends where you go and how heavy the ivory. Hunts in Zimbabwe can be found between 25-35k all in for a 10 day hunt. A management or non trophy bull would be on the lower end of those figures.

I am doing a hunt at Kazuma in October where the average has been over 60 lbs a side. It is about half that for a 15 day hunt all in. Now, I will be paying for the videographer as an extra.

A 10 day buff hunt in Zim is around 15k on the low end. They can be found lower then that but it may not be the best experience.

Daily rate will generally be between $1-2k, 14 days. Then the trophy fee for will generally be about $5k for buff, $10-20k for elephant.

Maybe for some Elephant in Botswana or Tanzania you may see six figures, but that is due to the length of the hunt and trophy fee and the area you are hunting. Like mentioned you can hunt a bull elephant in Zimbabwe for a decent price tag. I've been thinking about my next hunt to either be a non trophy bull elephant in the Caprivi/Zim or Namibia plains game hunt - both will be about the same in price. I will decide that after hunting this September in Zim

Great reply by tanks…you can quickly see the jump in cost once you step up into the 50+ ivory weight anywhere

No. A typical Zim hunt is $900-$1000 per day in day rates. Buff will be $5-$6k trophy fee, elephant bull 30-40 pounds $14k trophy fee, tuskless $4-$5k trophy fee

The key to remember in Zim is the government sets the fees to the outfitter. As an example for 2023 I believe the government fee for a bull elephant is $12k so at $14k the outfitter only makes $2k in profit plus any profit in tips and day rate

One thing. It is really economical if one wants to shoot an elephant to go for tuskless. Not only the trophy fee is cheaper, but the hunt is more challenging than a bull hunt in that if one shoots a bull in a crowd of bulls they will take off. The cows though start looking around for the threat. In 2021 a client and the PH had to shoot 2 additional cows in self defense with the second one dropping about 5 yards from where they stood. Luckily both had doubles as there would not have been time to run the bolts for the third cow.

In my hunt last year there was some separation between the cows and the one I shot and due to thick foliage once it dropped the others could not see it. They still spent several minutes looking around for the disturbance before joining a herd that was trumpeting nearby.
