WASHINGTON— In response to a lawsuit by animal protection and conservation groups, today the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service finally agreed to a June 2027 deadline to determine if leopards warrant increased protection under the Endangered Species Act. Increased safeguards would ensure closer scrutiny of African leopard trophy imports and help boost funding to counter suspected population declines.

Humane Society International, the Humane Society of the United States and the Center for Biological Diversity filed a petition in July 2016 requesting additional protections for leopards. The groups sued in November 2021 after the Fish and Wildlife Service missed its legal deadline for responding to the petition and failed to even set a timeline for its response. As part of the settlement, the Service agreed to the new, binding deadline.

“The leopard is being driven to extinction by so many human-induced threats already, and U.S. hunters who kill these magnificent animals only to satiate their selfish desire for macabre trophies to display in their homes or to take selfies with their kills are only exacerbating their decline,” said Sarah Veatch, wildlife policy director for Humane Society International. “It is critical that this iconic species receives the full Endangered Species Act protections they so desperately need before it is too late.”

What a crock of sh*t!

"Imperiled," about as imperiled as bushpigs. Though I guess they'd put them in the same category given half a chance, because if they can't see them from the vehicle as soon as they enter their tightly controlled "safari parks," it automatically makes them endangered to these retards.

I’m guessing none of these folks can even find Africa on a map much less have ever even been to Africa. I’m not sure where they are getting this information. Not from the wildlife personnel on the ground in Africa.

Africa? Sure they know what that is. It's somewhere in Wakanda, right? And all Africans knew Nelson Mandela personally.

I was going to say unbelievable. All scientific evidence to the contrary, these self important nibs think they have a handle on the status of Leopards in Africa. I guess there’s nothing unbelievable about this movement anymore. They want to end sport hunting entirely.

I'm more worried about the substantial short-term effects this would have in certain regions of Africa. I personally cannot fathom sport hunting stopping in Africa, but the habitat loss in just a few short years in some countries can be frightening. It's basically spite on the part of the anti-hunters.

Scientific fact has nothing to do with it. Their plan is to stop all hunting one species at a time. Look at the problems we have in the US with managing bears, mountain lions and wolves. These people would prefer to have animals go extinct than to have humans hunt them.

They settle, give in, and give money to our enemies! This is why we must support SCI and their full time legal team in DC. This is why I am in Nashville now!

These are nothing but Donor Farmers getting rich off naive bleeding heart tree huggers!

Dishonest doesn't even begin to describe their actions!

HSUS and HSI are driven by emotions and a Disney-like view of the world.

I tell them that in Africa, nothing dies of old age.

If you think they're bad (which they are), wait until you find out that there are some organisations today which promote either the total eradication of all predators on Earth, or the magical conversion to a herbivorous lifestyle. The latter is impossible to achieve but it's what they believe.

Some people genuinely think that nature and death are inherently evil, and can't see the natural beauty in either. "Saving animals," my arse. It's a disgusting ideology.

Here goes the USFWS again, probably going to regulate by emotions. my father was in the USFWS in the 50’s and 60’s, it was full of hunters and fishermen that wanted to give back to the resources. I HAD a lot of friends (all were in the migratory bird office) that are my age (59) that finally retired from the service because of all of the antis coming out of today’s colleges. They couldn’t talk about their hunting and fishing was tolerated at best. I have 1 out of about a dozen friends left in the service and he manages a NWR out west.

Not only is the ruling BS, but DOI also agreed to pay over 30k in reimbursement for lawyers fees. A great use of our taxpayer dollars.

I think they just filed the same lawsuit last week for hippos.

leopards can never be scarce as long as their food supply remains intact. If poaching for bush meat gets to the point of denuding the wildlife of all sorts, then leopards can have a problem. Solve THAT problem, don't attack hunter/conservationists!!!

When leopards run out of duiker and impala they will start on the tree huggers emotional support poodles and maybe they will change their tune a little bit. But unfortunately most of this dribble is coming from people that will never have to deal with wildlife bigger than a New York City rat.

Something interesting about the anti hunters is that they are opposed to "trophy hunting" or "hunting for sport" nut think that hunting for food is acceptable. They have no concept of the damage done by the bush meat poachers or why ethical hunting benefits the prey and predator species in the environment. Ignorant idiots should have no legal standing to file these law suits.

We need to work hard to get the funding to fight Veganism! All of those poor defenseless plants have no one to support them. So so many of them are endanger of extinction and many more should be put on the endangered list. I feel so badly for them. They need to be left alone to sway in the wind and be allowed to live a full life! If we stick together and file suit, we could tie up their resources and drain them of their funds.

Sorry for the sarcasm but this was as close as I could think of being anywhere near as f'ing stupid as these people. If any of them had the balls to go there and spend a month living with the population, they might come away with the idea that there ore more important causes in the world to throw time and resources at. Pisses me off...not that you could tell.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
