So happy my Florida Everglades buck and first deer ever is back home where he belongs! Came out great and very lifelike.

Congrats

For those who do not know, that is an enormous South Florida deer. More than anything they resemble a Coues both in body and antler.

What an accomplishment. Well done!

Thank you sir!

What was the body size on that beautiful buck? Congratulations, well done!
My guide estimated he was 170 lbs. Also said he was the heaviest deer taken off the ranch in the 9 years he has been guiding there.

That is a true statement, thank you @Red Leg. You beat me to it. :ROFLMAO:

@Daktari, do you mind sharing a bit more on the deer and the hunt?

At 170 lbs, that is hoss of a S. Florida buck. Congrats!

I went with Everglades Adventures in Immokalee, FL. They do free range Seminole whitetail deer hunting. You can see my hunting report for more info, it was amazing experience!

He was indeed. That is about thirty pounds heavier than is typical in my admittedly limited experience.
I killed a mature six-pointer down there many years ago while stationed at Macdill that would have been lucky to go 120. That seemed typical of the ranch we hunted.

The antlers look quite dark. 'Any idea what he was rubbing on? Up here, any conifers high in tannic acid will do it (hemlock, pine, spruce, etc.) I've hunted in FL several times, but the only conifers recalled are the huge stands in the Ocala Forest along 44 farther N. of the 'glades. Very nice deer.

Pretty sure he was rubbing on cypress trees.
