I am after suggestions for possible venues for a safari to appeal to all members of our family. The thing is that my wife and daughter are horse mad but dont like participating in hunting, but my son and I are hunting mad but lukewarm on horses!! Do any of you know anywhere that the girls can be on horses whilst the boys are hunting, I would ideally like to be chasing a buffalo cow plus the odd plains game for a few days during the family holiday??

Agarob safaris in Namibia. I hunted with them in 2016. They offer hunts off horseback in the khomas mountains. 100% free range. Amazing country and people to stay and hunt with. They just don’t have the buffalo your after.

Our family took a great horse back safari at Ant's Nest in Waterberg, SA- horse back safaris for all levels of riders with tons of game around including buffalo and rhino. They don't allow hunting on riding area which was about 10K acres but owners very pro hunting so I think lots of hunting opportunities in surrounding area in Limpopo. Also a great horse back riding safari area in Okavango Delta Botswana called Okavango Horse Safaris- didn't ride with them but spent time on massive 500K acre reserve they are apart of...with Botswana opening hunting up again that is a beautiful place as well.

Hello SRvet
We operate in the Kalahari desert and do have buffalo that you are looking at.
We pick up our clients in Johannesburg and it is about 6 hours drive west.
Our ranches are located on the Botswana border and we have lots and lots of game including buffalo, sable, roan, giraffe, zebra and plenty other plains game species.
Our neighbors to the south of us own an Arabian stud called Rukwa stud.
They specialize in endurance horse races and my daughter rides for them.
They ride every year the famous Fauresmith race in central South Africa which is about 240 km long in 3 days.
They have several horses that compete and finish every year.
They constantly need people to help exercise their horses and many of our clients in the past have done exactly what you want to do (do some hunting and combine it with some horseback riding).
We have plenty of space so if you and your son are hunting in one area your wife and daughter can explore another part of the game reserve 10 miles away (so completely safe).
My daughter (who works permanently for us doing our marketing on social media) and a guide will ride with them so they will be well taken care of while we do some hunting.
We will meet at the lodge for lunch and exchange stories and relax around the swimming pool.
Will try and upload some photos of the lodge.
If you have any questions feel free to contact us.
Sincerely
Hans de Klerk

Chris Troskie could do that, his wonderful wife, Sabina, is not only an excellent chef but passionate about horses. Great people, beautiful country! Near Lephalale in Limpopo Province, South Africa.

Hello hunting friend,

our River Lodge is situated 90km west of the international airport of Namibia, in the central highlands.
All hunting is free-range self sustaining wildlife. Hunting method is fair chase stalking.

At our Lodge we have 4 well trained American Quarter Horses and all new riding equipment which is specially for Family members who wish to explore the african wildness on horse back.

A hunting day will start before sunrise and the hunters will reach the foot of the Mountain ranges and start spotting and stalking. The Ladies meet a little later for a quick breakfast and their outing starts to explore the open horizons of Africa!
For Lunch everyone meets back at the Lodge and in the afternoon the second outings begins after Tee, Coffee and Cake.

For more information please visit my website or contact me directly on whatsapp +264816120075 or email philip@khomas-highland-hunting.com

best regards
Philip

I also hunted with Philip and the khomas highland team last year. Even though we never used the horses it’s a beautiful area for riding and hunting!

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Some lovely destinations!

Well the big news for today is that we have booked with Chris Troskie for next year. I am so excited about the trip and cannot wait !!

You'll love your stay with Chris and Sabina ( I brought Sabina some Persian Saffron along with a Harley Davidson T Shirt and became her friend for life)

You have a good memory Ragman. That was a good local forum we once had.

We were scheduled with Chris for July of this year, but are now officially scheduled for next year as well. Good luck, and leave a few for seed!

Just when things were looking up Covid strikes again! Announcement via the BBC yesterday means all 2021 school exams delayed by up to 3 months. This has totally screwed with the timetable as my daughter will be sitting next year so back to the drawing board ☹️

That is rough, but I’m sure Chris will help make a plan. I was originally booked for a July hunt last year, but stuff happened and I rescheduled for September, no problem. It was an incredible adventure and I cannot wait to return!

Sure you will come right on this forum! Lots of talented guys offering some exciting things out there!

Kind regards,
Dempsey & Michael

Congratulations on booking your safari sir. Covid will pass and you will have a great safari with your family!

All my best,

Is this rifle sold? If not what is the weight of it and do you know if there is enough difference in diameter between the 35W and the 9.3 to allow for a rebore to a 9.3x62 which is what I am after?
Thanks,
Gary (Just down the road in Springfield)

Forgive me if this is the incorrect area, I signed up to this forum just now because I wanted to be on the list to purchase a copy of your autobiography. Please feel free to pass my information along to whomever is selling. Thank you so much. I look forward to it!
I like the Tillie in my picture. They are supposed to fit loose (2 fingers inside hat band), have mesh for cooling, and hold their shape after washing.
