I've just returned from a wonderful safari at Takeri Reserve Zambia (@spike.t). A short hunt report as follows:

Food in camp: outstanding, with Ronald as the camp chef we were well cared for. I really enjoyed getting to sample different types of game meat. We had sable steaks, and warthog shepherds pie, and puku burgers. It was all great.

Accommodations were a standard safari style tent with attached shower/toilet. We had plenty of hot water for showers and a nice bed in the tent.

Snakes: We killed a puff adder on the path right outside my tent on Day One. Then we killed a baby mamba (still scary even if it's a baby) during Week Two. Both were after dark; I recommend using a flashlight and watching where you're going.......

Terrain: beautiful terrain, with some open dambas filled with termite mounds, some riverine bush, some gorgeous open wooded country with classic miombo forest, some gentle hills and some rocky areas.

Game: we saw good numbers of game every day, with only a couple of "slow" periods right after an overnight rain. We saw puku, zebra, duiker, lechwe, wildebeest, eland, sable, impala, waterbuck, warthog, and one mama side-striped jackal with 6 little cubs in tow, their white-tipped bushy tails reminding of us of puffballs as they bounced along following mama.

Trophies:
I took 3 sable; two are in the 40" range, and the third one measured 46.5"; the sable of my dreams and exactly what I dared not hope for but was very grateful to have the chance for.

A nice big toothy male warthog who received a Texas heart shot as he spun to bolt away.

A puku that is the biggest puku I've ever seen, and is probably one of the best trophies I've ever taken for his species.

A graceful and beautiful Kafue Lechwe; I think they are criminally underrated as a trophy animal, and sometimes get lost in the discussion of all the "glamour" trophies like sable and kudu. But I was delighted with him. He measured 30" and was simply beautiful.

A nice Defassa Waterbuck.

I had a great experience and would recommend this hunt to anyone wanting to experience an authentic hunt in Zambia for some of their iconic species. I especially enjoyed being able to hunt the puku, the lechwe, and of course the sable.

A really nice Puku; I love these little guys. To me they're built and move a lot like a good cutting horse.
You are correct. That is a monster Puku! Takeri is a special place.

Beautiful trophies, Waidmannsheil!

Great animals, Takeri is on the top of my bucket list but with a major family issue going on right now it may not happen. Enjoy living through others adventures though!

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
