You will go on 1st safari within 10 yrs of joining

What a great way to celebrate your AH anniversary! I was guilty of being a lurker for years. I was reading all I could about Africa and this site was a tremendous resource. I joined only 6 months before my first safari because I still had questions and wanted to share my journey. I looking back, I could have joined long before I did. Even now with only one safari under my belt, I am certainly no expert, but there are new people here all the time and I like to share my experience with them. I am not far removed from the newbie who is looking to go for the first time and I well remember the anxiety I had about it.

Like anything, there is always someone who knows more and someone who knows less. Together, we can all share our advice and opinions and learn from each other, even if it is knowledge gained elsewhere and not through personal experience.

Newbie here, joined after signing up for my first safari with a group from another site. Just got back less than 2 weeks ago. Looking at booking with the Frontier again for 2027, but not sure if I can book single or need to get in with another group. Prefer a group, even if its just one or two.
You can book with a single. Don’t worry about a group as you will meet all kinds of hunters at Frontier as I did and many have become friends. When you are at your final airport gate to travel to Johannesburg in my case Atlanta look for people wearing hunting or hiking boots. (Best way to go as you can borrow a rifle but almost impossible to find broken boots if luggage is lost) Go up and introduce yourself. In my case at least a 1/3 of the people on my plane were hunters.

I joined in 2019. I really don't remember why at the time but likely just for more information about any kind of hunting.

My first trip to RSA was booked for 2021 but got pushed to 2023 due to covid. The choice to make that booking was made purely from reading here and the deals offered. I was looking at a blacktail hunt in Alaska and realized how much more we could get for less money on a beginner safari.

Booked again for 2026 and have taken 3 other international trips to other destinations with 2 others booked before the end of next year. All costing less than guided hunts in the states or Canada.
And all a result of information gathered here and lighting a fire than just won't die.

At Kalahari Safari, the Small Things Are the Big Things
The thrill of the stalk. The stillness of the wait. The age-old rhythm of the hunt.
It’s not just about the size of the trophy. It’s about the stories that will be told for years.
We believe the memories are the true prize. The small things are the big things.
And we’re proud to offer a hunting experience that honours exactly that.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
Two African Safaris Hunted South Africa both times,
9 game animals taken
