What an excellent article.
It is very fortunate that the firm , Winchester has re introduced their model 70 with the mauser type extracting claw device again . The model 70 is even better , I my humble opinion than some custom made rifles which l have seen.

My pre 64 was built 1948 it’s well used 270 and still to this day holds sub moa with 130,140,150 gr bullets original finish on stock mostly gone steel butt plate but just feels right and fits like a glove for me. It’s been packed for many miles by former owners and still debating if I take this one or another rifle to Namibia in 2022. I’ll need to shrink my collection of rifles down more to make choices easier.
