Winchester model 70 alaskan... I have the model 70 safari, and I was wondering if anyone had an experience with the alaskan model. And what are the major differences... I hear the Alaskan is also lighter. How much will that impact recoil? Thank you so much Charlie

Having owned both Safari and Alaskan M70 375s I much prefer the Alaskan for nimble handling and sedate recoil with the Monte Carlo stock design.
The Alaskan is lighter and nimble, The Safari Express is a solid rifle in 375 H&H, just bulky and heavy.
I am generally not a fan of Monte Carl stock for the look, prefer American style straight comb, but the M70 Alaskan just works very well to mitigate recoil, at least for me.

Oh boy now you are making me think!!!

The Alaskan will come in around 7lb 12oz if my memory serves me correctly. I’ve had a couple of them over the years, and in 375, they make for a much more handy rifle over the Safari Express, which weighs 9lbs. I just wish they would make them with a 22” barrel instead of 25”. Also put decent iron sights on them. The flip up sight is a bit lacking IMO.

Good, think long and hard. Really, the Alaskan 375 H&H is a properly weighted rifle.

I agree with @TOBY458 that the weight is nice and the barrel at 22 inches, standing fixed blade rear would be appropriate.

I've been scheming on a 22-inch barrel 375 Alaskan, and a 22-inch barrel Alaskan bored out to 416 Remington., with solid fixed sight. I don't like the look of the stock profile but, as I am only 5 foot 10, slight build, it really fits me better than the Safari Express and 375 recoil is not an issue.

A good purchase with the Alaskan. Nice that Winchester finally made another run.

The Alaskan is reportedly lighter than advertised (due to bore size, but can vary based on specific wood). This is perfect to put a scope on

The Express starts at 9 pounds and gets heavier from there. If you are shooting iron sights, it's a beautiful weight to roll with the recoil. 10 pounds+ to scope, in a 375, that is too excessive imo

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
