I would like to sell a nice little Winchester 1886 in 45-70. It’s the lightweight version with 22” barrel, half magazine, and straight stock with a checkered steel buttplate. It has a few handling marks and dings in the wood but nothing significant. It comes with dies, some bullets, and a ton of brass. Asking $1400 shipped for the whole package.

PM me with any questions.

All that I have seen about this model rifle indicates a 1:20” twist rate. It will stabilize a 1.4” bullet and that is too much for the platform. You should be good up
To a 1.4” 500 grain bullet should you get the notion to load such a bullet.

The rifle is still available along with all of the reloading components and die set.

The fancy brother of that rifle sits in my closet and is a game getting gun.
If I did not have 2 , I would buy this one.
It should sell soon.

im thinking pretty seriously on it, holding off since i already have a 26in rifle i custom built with a 18twist to shoot the gong matches, shoots a 530 buffalo arms creedmore bullets very well at 1000yds. MVA tang sight.

Biggergun, that is awesome! That is one sweet rifle!
I cast a custom 435 and a 460 gr bullet with longer nosed that bring the overall length out to the usable action length of the 1886 action. They seat to 2.730” at the crimp groove. The heavier bullet has a bit more weight in the nose with a bigger, more rounded meplat and the lighter bullet has a pointier nose with a 0.180” meplat. I’m happy to ship a supply of these gas checked bullets with the rifle to the new owner. Here is the 460gr.

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
