It has its uses. I think it’s a good night time predator and hog set up. Christianson Ridgeline, synthetic stock, suppressed, spartan precision quick attach for sticks, leave it in the SxS, the only thing on it I kinda baby is the Pulsar but I take it on and off. Easy to shoot for everyone 10 and up. Run 80gr Hammer Hunters near 3600fps on hybrid cases and it’s a laser beam out to 350. Anything it’s touched has not survived.

I wouldn’t hesitate to take a deer or larger game with it if it’s all I had on hand but given a choice I’ll grab a 300 or bigger.

I've set up a Creedmoor for a youth gun. Had the garmin running and to be honest velocity was pretty low. All factory loads: 156gr S&B at 2475 fps, Nosler E-tip 120gr at 2750 fps, and Barnes TTSX 120gr at 2800 fps. All shot from a 24 inch barrel.

My 270 win with several types of factory ammo shoots several hundred feet faster. 145gr Eld-x at 2940 fps, 150gr PPU- 2900 fps, 150g Norma Oryx 2890 fps, Federal fusion 130gr at 3150 fps, also shot from a 24 inch barrel.

Much rather have the 270 win over the creed.

I use a 6.5 Creedmoor for PRS. I've had hits with plenty of power left at 1000 yards. Other 6mm calibers are also increasingly popular, edging aside the 6.5 CM for PRS. I shot a match with some guys with .308 Wins and that caliber dropped like rocks at 600 to 800 yards or so. I haven't bloodied my 6.5 rifle, a GA Precision, but some buddies tell me the Hornady Match ammo is a sledgehammer. I will likely try it out on whitetails this season, and will report back.

I have killed a pronghorn with a 147 ELDM at an embarrassingly long distance. Killed like lightning. However, I would not be my choice for sub 100 yd shots on bone even in deer sized game out of a modest velocity cartridge such as the CM. It is a rapidly expanding bullet.

Placed in the vitals, it has a reputation for causing tremendous tissue damage and rapid kills. For myself, I would stay off the shoulder. Some people have reported an impressive number of one shot kills with ELDM, but I worry about excessive expansion without adequate penetration.

For my purposes, I am currently using Terminal ascent and Barnes LRX bullets in my hunting rifles so I can take any reasonable shot angle at traditional hunting distances. Not sure about accuracy of the TA yet, but have been very happy with Barnes TSX,TTSX, and LRX out of a wide variety of rifles.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
