My sister who is an avid photographer had heard stories of a white deer being occasionally seen in Jefferson county MO not too far her house. She is not a hunter but supports hunting. Getting up and going out before sunrise and wearing camo finally paid off (this was not during firearms season and the park is closed to hunting). I was reading that 1 out of every 30,000 on average is white. I wonder what the odds would be to photograph three at the same time.

Wow. Congratulations on the photo and defying incredible odds.

White is rare...I see more than one, so they all can't be albino, can they?

The eyes do not appear to be pink, I thought that was a trait of albinism.

I would see a white deer in the early morning hours while driving by a private school in the Georgetown area of Washington, DC. This was probably 20 years ago.

The one I saw didn’t have red eyes, was a white deer, not an albino.

Eyes and nose are pink. Leucistic they tend to match normal deer. Because it’s a recessive trait both parents have to carry the gene. The oldest doe is the mother of the other 2, and because she is albino, all of her offspring are “het” albino. So if she mates with a buck that does not carry the gene, 100% of their offspring will look normal but carry the trait. If she mates with a buck that is normal but carries the gene, 50% of their offspring will be albino. Because she is albino, and 2 of her offspring are albino, there is a very high likelihood of an albino buck being present and most deer in the area carrying the gene

Very cool (y)

We have many around here. Here's one of the big bucks that has been produced over the last 15 years or so. We've had twins born to white does and regular does. At least three good size bucks. The first buck we named Fred and he was a monster.

And then one of his sheds. Found it on the side of the road while snowmobiling.

The pics were taken with my last phone so not so great. He was a little ways away y too.

IME, unusual color deer (piebald deer, all-white, etc.) deer usually occur in clusters in small areas.

There is an area of about 1 square km, 30 km south of my home, where I've never seen a normal colored deer.

In NY during ww2 around 10,000 ac was fenced and isolated a group of deer with white genes. That herd grew and about 40% are white. They’d hunt “normal” deer but leave the white ones alone.

People would drive by and look through the fence for them. It was closed in the early 2000’s and eventually sold to a private individual who runs tours through there now.
