Hi everyone

Id just like to know...Do i buy from the wrong shops? Because I can reload at the cheapest for R370.50per pack of 20...I can buy 20 pmp of the shelf for R366....

I'm from South Africa...
Any help wil be awesome.
Im new to the hole reloading.
Thanks

I do not reload to save me money.
Buying the powder, the bullets and primers is all a recipe I choose to try and find the most effective round for my rifle and what I hunt.

I can buy Remington cartridges similar to PMP that would be about half the cost of what I am reloading.

You can likely find some types of powder and cheaper bullets for plinking or target practice that could save you some money.
For hunting, I won't skimp.

I'm new in the hole thing and the only reason for trying to do it cheap,is for the practice...When i do go hunting i wil not skimp. Thanks

Try and look for some other powder and bullet combinations and you may find something that may save you some money.
WishI could make a recipe suggestion but I don't have access to your powder lists.

Maybe an SA reloader can jump in.

there are many SA here , I agree with @BRICKBURN , I don't reload to save money , I reload to personalize my bullet to my rifle and my requirements of the bullet.

reloading here in SA really gets cheaper with the larger calibers .

IMHO reloading takes so much time ( time that I don't have to spare )that it doesn't work out cheaper , and saving costs shouldn't be your main objective of reloading accuracy, speed of the bullet should be the main objective.

I have found that with reloading that if you want to practice a lot you want the best ammo that you can reload to do so. The practice ammo should be able to shoot to the same point of impact that your hunting round will shoot. So this usually means that about the only thing that you can change in the reload is the bullet. So if you are shooting a 200 grain bullet in your hunting loads you should be shooting a 200 grain bullet in your reloads. The same as for the powder since changing the load will usually change your point of aim from one load to another.

Now after saying all that you can load up your hunting rifle with your hunting load and make sure that it is shooting where it is suppose to. Then purchase another rifle that you can reload some cheap ammo for to do the majority of your practice with but remember that knowing exactly what your hunting rifle will do will help a lot when you go out into the hills for your hunts and that usually comes with practice with it.

Just as a example of what it cost to reload, I have a .340 Weatherby mag that if I purchased factory rounds for it with the Barnes TTSX bullet that I like to shoot would cost me $100+US for a box of 20. I can reload the same round once I have a supply of brass for around $1.00US or $20.00 a box of 20, so that is a savings of $80.00 per box for me. Now if I purchased boxes of ammo for it with standard cup and core bullets then the cost of factory ammo would go down and my savings would also go down.

Here is a site that you can input your cost for each component and it will calculate just what a loaded round will cost you.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.
