What is your deadliest weapon???

Bought this 870 magnum Wingmaster from a classmate when I was a sophomore in high school, 1967. It killed a ton of birds till retina detachments forced its retirement a dozen years ago. I wore out two walnut stocks before switching to synthetic.

Then I acquired a Browning A5 frankengun (1961 receiver, 1975 trigger group, 1990s Miroku barrel) which has probably killed more birds ... and tens of thousands clay targets. Also consumed two sets of wood before switching to synthetic.

And of course the Springfield 03A3 my dad fixed up for me back in 1962. It has taken almost all my big game since then plus a few varmints and the odd grouse shot in the head. I have rebuilt it end to end several times ... but it will never wear plastic!

I don’t consider my firearms as weapons and we are not allowed to use them as such. I’m fine with that but I don’t like the law classifying them as weapons.

Anything could be used as a weapon to attack someone or defend yourself. If I used a chair against an intruder I would likely be charged.

Aside from that, my 7mm-08 Tikka CTR. Claimed a lot of pest animals. The 20” barrel made it an ideal truck gun when I was able to use it regularly and it’s lighter enough to hunt with. It was just easy to manage recoil and handling that hits hard, hard enough to drop pigs effectively and follow up on the next one.

We can’t have weapons like AR15 style rifles or suppressors. Australian politicians do not want to go down the same path as Americans. That was one of the reasons and justification for tougher gun laws.

My great Grandfather’s model 97 Winchester he bought new in 1911.

Noticed a lot of shotguns here. I'm the same. Remington 870 in 20 gauge. Accounted for more quail, pheasant, chukkar and dove than I can count, as well as a few rabbits and the odd pest around the homestead.

Most of my deer have died from a Remington Model 7 308 Winchester and 165 grain bullets of some sort or another. The last few years I have been using a Remington 700 30-06 I inherited from my Dad that I had some work done to.

When I was in college, I had dinner with G. Gordon Liddy. I asked him what was his favorite weapon. He instantly replied: it depends on the task.

Just occurred to me all of these were shot on the fly, even the coyote, buck, and nyala. Those three through the heart. I attribute it to a gun that fits perfectly ... plus a whole lot of wing/clays shooting.

LWRC REPR 7.62, 50 round drum mag, 1.5-15 March rifle scope, plate carrier with eight 25 round mags.

I consider myself to be the weapon and anything I use is just a tool.
I’ve taken animals at long range with rifles the longest kill being 1012 yds.
I’ve taken many animals with archery equipment my most dangerous being a Cape buffalo.
I’ve used a variety of different tools taking animals of all sorts big and small, making me the dangerous weapon.

Remington 870 Express 12 Gauge shotgun. Used it when I was a younger man to take over 50 whitetails.

The JCPenney branded Marlin Model 880/Glenfield Model 20 that my aunt gave me for Christmas in 1975.

That little rifle has taken more animals than I could ever count...

My parents bought my Glenfield Model 60 in 1974 from a Western Auto store. They wouldn't let me own one until I was a teenager. I got a lot of good usage out of it & it is still in my closet. But since then, it has been bypassed by my Browning BPS 12 gauge. I like all of my centerfire rifles but they get rotated too much for any single one to get a significant lead that makes it a standout.

Number one is my Ruger 96/22. Basically a lever action 10/22. I have no idea but easily in excess of 50k gophers. I’m being VERY conservative as I’ve had it almost 20 years and until I was 20 it was a minimum two cases of 22ammo a year.

Second would be my TC Compass .204. Ranch gun it’s got tons of coyotes and prairie dogs under its belt.

My main hunting guns I go through a ton so each individual one doesn’t have a huge kill sheet. I am leaning more and more into limited guns so that will likely change in a few years.

My "go-to" shotgun is a Remington 870 Express, 3" 12 gauge.

Same here on centerfire rifles.

I change centerfire rifles more than my wife changes shoes!

I took my last whitetail buck with a 6.5 Creedmoor.

The one before that with a .260 Remington. (Largest)

The one before that with a .30/06 Springfield (and probably the last dozen before it.)

I haven’t kept any of my various rifles long enough for any one to achieve a legacy. But my Browning Citori White Lightning 16 Ga. Has been my go-to for all upland bird and some mixed bag hunting for many years. Grouse, Partridge, Pheasant, and many ducks and some geese. It just fits so well and shoots where I look. It may have been surpassed though by my old Win. M12 12 ga, with a Verney-Caron VR / Choke tube barrel. I have no idea how many geese and ducks I’ve shot with it, but one two month season I kept track and used it to kill 243 geese, so quite a few over more than 30 years.

Back After a Long Time – Hello Again!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.

All the best,
ANDY

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
