Shame to hear these things about Australia and NZ, they were both on my list of places to go. Sooner or later we're all going to have to face the reality that if we want freedom, we will have to fight for it and take it. Things haven't really changed all that much in the last few hundred years or more, throughout history for that matter. We're ignorant to think it has just because we have "modern technological luxuries".

Sounds like Australia needs a 2nd amendment. It's the only thing standing in the way of the USA becoming something similar.

Sadly not a hope in hell of that; as written earlier, gun laws are predominantly a State issue; we've never had a brutal foreign overseer, just power-hungry bureaucraps, with no understanding of real firearms issues.

The worst bans in Australian history were orchestrated by a right wing PM (megalomaniacs don't care about ideology, they just want power for themselves)

@K-man don't count on your second amendment, much of what is in the WA proposal is also reflected in Biden's anti "Ghost Gun' proposals. ps The US 2nd amendment was largely based on the provisions of the UK Bill of Rights of the late 1600s. Hasn't done much to protect gun owners in UK, Canada, NZ or Australia.

What is happening there now will NEVER happen in the states. Its more than just the 2nd Amendment, its the whole of the Bill of Rights which no other country has, and the US Constitution that enumerates and affirms natural Rights, and is much more about individual Rights than whatever everyone else had or has. Sorry, not the same thing at all.

No other country on this planet has its equal in protecting individual enumerated Rights and Freedoms.

Natural Rights are not granted by pencil dick govts and presidents like our current pencil dick Uncle Joe, but our Rights are affirmed in our Founding Documents and while many lower courts here tend to think Rights means something else, the Supreme Court usually takes a dim view of loss of our individual Freedoms and gets it right, eventually.

So while I am sorry to hear of this nonsense you have going on, it wont happen here.
Not to mention there are more guns here than people and enough of us who will use them.
