What did you reload today?

Pictured is my new production Win Model 70 in 416 Rem Mag. I wanted to start out with a “lighter” load to get used to shooting it, as I’ve never shot anything with more recoil than a 12 gauge duck load out of my Beretta 686. With no factory options for a lighter load, I decided to start from scratch with components. I’ve never done this before; usually my first rounds through a rifle are factory loads. Working from the Hodgdon data I loaded up the 300 gr Barnes TSX with H335 at a starting charge of 79 grains (listed velocity of 2618 FPS). The only hiccup was bulging the neck of my dummy rounds out a bit with the flat base of the bullet. For my live rounds I champfered the inside of the case mouth and I took things a lot slower with seating the bullets. No more bulging. Finished product looked great and shot great.

375H&H with NF 250 grain SS. Found the sweet spot with H4350 powder. Light recoil, good velocity and I think very accurate. I hope this will be the rifle and cartridge my wife uses when we go to MOZ in 2027. Plains game for her, no DG.

Did a big batch of .300 Win Mag with Federal 215s, H-4831SC, and 190gr HVLDs. Also .260 AI with 210s, H-4350, and 140gr HVLDs. The Bergers aren’t my very favorite hunting bullet, but man do they shoot well.

Finishing up today. So far this week. Roughly 300+ rounds of 30-06 and 50+ rounds of 22 Hornet.

Test loads 300WM with 180gr Swift A-frame different charges of H4350

Hazy, hot and humid out today—nice day for a session at the bench. I loaded up some 9.3x62 practice rounds with PPU 285 grn under w748 with new Norma brass. Should be 2325fps and great practice ammo for this fall’s moose hunt.

285gr at 2325fps sounds like a perfectly adequate hunting load to me!
9.3X62 just looks so right…

I’m "supposed to be " loading 22hornet for the neighbour whom I work for casually, so much for being retired, but as I’m the only person he can get who has a heavy vehicle licence, I’m driving a truck for the day (facepalm goes here) and I’m mustering for him for shearing the next week or so, I doubt I’ll get to it till after that, and he’s asking me when I’ll have the rounds loaded (another facepalm) (hey, I found the button)

At Kalahari Safari, the Small Things Are the Big Things
The thrill of the stalk. The stillness of the wait. The age-old rhythm of the hunt.
It’s not just about the size of the trophy. It’s about the stories that will be told for years.
We believe the memories are the true prize. The small things are the big things.
And we’re proud to offer a hunting experience that honours exactly that.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
Two African Safaris Hunted South Africa both times,
9 game animals taken
