We bought some land

Unfortunately, we have not. I'd like to one of these days if I'm not too tired from working. LOL!!!!

It's been raining so much in Middle Georgia that we try to get the most done before the afternoon storms roll in. Not sure about where you are in AL, but it's been a really wet Aug for us.

I’m on the coast and we had just shy of 10” in July. Been dry so far in august though.

Between yesterday and today, we are close to 1.5" of rain. The Ocmulgee River is down the road from where I live, and there is a little fishing area and that is all under water now. Lots of flooding in that area.

BTW, I forgot to include a picture of what it's going to turn into a cigar lounge. I hope my wife doesn't other plans for this place. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I had some free time and went by the farm to do a bit more work inside the trailer. Mrs. PARA45 doesn't like fake the wood look of the cabinets and wanted them painted in white instead. Who am I to argue. :ROFLMAO: So, woke up early and went to work.

Before,

Some of the after a couple of coats of paint. Still more work ahead of us, but will get there eventually. :Finger:

Oh no, that is a structure that is not attached to the trailer. This is where the fireplace is located.

We finally finished the deck and finished painting most of the kitchen cabinets and walls. Seems like the previous owners never cleaned the wall, some spots it took 3 coats of primer to cover the stains. :(

Some pictures of the cabinets with the painted hardware.

My hunting camp has that same wall paper I got to paint over that soon

I’m easy, but not cheap. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

We used the original hardware, cleaned them up a bit and painted them black. The contractor’s (wife) idea. :ROFLMAO:

Wow, the progress is going well!
I do think there needs to be an African fire pit in there somewhere ;)

You really did great! Amazing what some fresh paint will do;)

Patience my friend, there will be fire pit :ROFLMAO:

Interesting how life is…I have owned my farms for 24 years now. When my wife died I sold the large one. Now as I near retirement I am seriously thinking of selling my final 40 acre farm in a great desirable location outside Atlanta with a home variance and a well to build my Africa war chest fund until I can’t go anymore which I estimate is 20 more years. I would rather make great memories versus just owning land. Please don’t misunderstand me…I well remember the excitement and pure joy when we bought ours and did exactly what you are doing we completely over renovated a double wide that was our hunting lodge with so many incredible memories made with my family and children. They are adults know moved away in their own careers so it is time to move on with Africa in my eye and dreams. The funds would enable nice yearly hunts

It's hard to think about building a fire pit when it's 90 degrees and 70% humidity! Wait a few months until it at least drops below 60 at night.

:A Camping:

It was 59 degrees this morning. I can't wait for some cooler weather. :ROFLMAO:

For a while, my wife and I had been discussing/planning on buying some land to have a little piece of dirt we can call it our own. So, after months of looking in Middle Georgia, and not liking the areas, or the prices, she finally found 26 acres about 35 minutes from our house. We went and looked it with the realtor, and my wife fell in love with the property from the moment she saw it. To top it off two deer jump off the bush and greeted us as we walked in the area.

We did a survey and everything checked out good. The property has a single wide (she is looking forward to fixing it, her HGTV project), a 3/4 of an acre spring fed pond (with big bass in it from what the neighbor has told me). It has two wells, electricity, and a septic tank already in the area. We've seen deer every day we've been there and that is a great sign. There are about 3 acres that are cleared, and the rest is a combination of hard wood with some scattered pines. I noticed a lot of oak trees, and some very mature trees, which will feed/keep the deer in the area. We need to clear the area from overgrown (not managed) grass and try to keep it looking clean. There are some mature peach and pear trees on the property already.

Yesterday we did the closing, and in 5 years this land will be ours. To say that we are excited is an understatement. I know 26 acres it's not much, but with the cost of land, this was enough for us to enjoy and hopefully pass it on to our kids or grandkids. Wish us luck in our new adventure. :)

Our little pond. Wife is already planning on a sitting area so I can sit there relax and smoke a cigar. I love the way she thinks. :ROFLMAO:

The next two pictures are of the trailer and the property looking North. While imagining future projects on this land, we also spent some time researching Edmonton Luxury Condos for inspiration on layouts and design ideas. This is when it was cleared, not looking like that now, lots of overgrown stuff.

Congratulations! Your new 26-acre property sounds amazing, with the pond, wildlife, mature trees, and utilities already in place. It’s a perfect mix of nature and convenience, and your plans for the trailer and land improvements will make it truly your own. Wishing you the best in this exciting new adventure!

A small update on the trailer progress. Wife wanted a backsplash, so we bought these stick on tiles on Amazon. She is very happy with the upgrade.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
