Wanted, none working double shotgun

Looking for double barrel shotgun 16ga or bigger. Can be in a non-working/safe condition. Gun will not be shot, going to try and turn it into a handrail for stairs. picture of what I'm trying to copy

Don't worry. There are still a lot of old (unsafe to shoot with modern loads) Damascus barrel shotguns. Sears or Montgomery Wards guns don't have much collector value and would work well for your purpose.

I have a Belgian 16 gauge double barrel as a project gun.

Now I may have to reconsider to use it for a different project gun.

Why 16 gauge and not a 28, 20, or 12 gauge?

Alright not shotgun barrels, but could you just get two steel pipes, weld them together, cut to preferred barrel length and use them for handrailing?

That's what I'm planning. A friend owns a machine shop, at 16ga or bigger I have a better chance of getting scrap tubing or round stock to make the barrels long enough.
I can't say I have ever measured a hand rail but just guessing I would think 20ga and under would feel a touch small

@Hunt27 I’ve had numerous such guns come through my hands over the years. Anytime someone brings a shotgun over they bought from internet scoundrels I measure the minimum wall thicknesses of the barrels. Numerous shotguns were unsafe and irreparable, although stunning. Any left in my care I destroyed so they could not be sold off to another victim.

If you call someone like Dan Morgan in Woodstock, Vermont and tell him your sincere desire to destroy/deactivate them, I bet you could get some REALLY impressive shoguns for your project that look stunning, but are zero value and cannot be safely fired. Any of the fine British gunsmiths have a pile of guns that shall not be sold out of fear someone will attempt to repair or use them.

Any left in my care I destroyed so they could not be sold off to another victim.

I looked up and called Dan Morgan. He had just what I was looking for. While i had him on the phone I asked him about his business. I didn't keep him on the phone very long but what a cool guy to talk to. Not a lot of people left anywhere in the world with those skills.

Lots of cool things can be done with an old junker shotgun. I figured this one would be worth more to me as a lamp than just another old side by side.

Reminds me of a time I got an old single barrel 12 gauge as part of a package deal. The hinge and action was so loose that it scared me. I'm no gunsmith, but I pulled the firing pin to make the gun inoperable, then I sold it for 10 or 15 bucks as a wall.hanger. The last time I saw it, it had been painted all white with some gold decoration and was in use as a prop for wedding photos ("shotgun wedding" scenes). Made me smile to know the gun got another life and it couldn't blow up in some one's face.
