Gents,

Looking for a bolt rifle (sporter) in 6.5x55 that's "vintage" enough to ship to my C&R license. If you've got anything suitable (that isn't a bank buster), please shoot me a PM.

Thanks y'all.

I've got a 6.5 Swede that I don't shoot. I,ts about 90% stock with the exception of a upgraded stock and the military barrel cut to 24". All the work was done by Ahlmans in Minnesota. I can work up some Pics if interested. I also have brass and dies

So is a CnR exempt from ffl shipping regs? Does it imply that the item does not actually function as it is?

It's a type of FFL license in the US. It's a less involved application process, is not a license to conduct business, and is for the purpose of collecting firearms that fall into the c&r category. In most states, c&r items can be shipped directly to the FFL address (home), and is kept on the license holders paperwork for their collection for the duration of ownership.

Good luck, hope you find one.

There is an expert on this forum @Art Lambart II that knows a ton about Swedish Military Mausers And their sporters. I highly recommend you connect with him if he’ll teach you how to find a good one.

Right family but the wrong Arthur, you need to talk to @Shootist43, he is the family expert on the 6.5x55.

Sorry I've been away for a few days, gents, but appreciate the replies. The C&R is a form of FFL that allows firearms 50+ years old (that don't have other restrictions) to be shipped to you directly. It involves an application, fees, and background check with ATF.

Topping off and C&R FFLs. Be very careful with the rules. A lot of people think “oh, an old Swedish mauser is a C&R, therefore I can buy this gun on my C&R license”. Maybe. A “sporter” is not a curio. It is no longer original. That is a violation of the license. The only way a sporter is a curio and relic is if the work done to make the custom rifle is absolutely provable to have occurred 50+ years ago. (Prior to 1972 as of today’s writing).

So a Swedish Mauser in military condition is a C&R. A custom Swede customized in 1950 by Griffin & Howe is a C&R. But an online auction for an unknown age customized Swede is a modern rifle. Don’t cross the BATF!

This is correct. That said, a lot of pre-1972 sporting firearms are now C&R by definition. I picked up a Winchester Model 50 made in 1957 and used my C&R FFL to have it delivered to me.

$30 for 3 years is not a bad deal. I’ve had one since 1996 or so.

I have a Model 1896 Swedish Mauser I could part with. But it's original, not sporterized. Walnut stock, straight bolt.

I found these guys a while ago. I can't vouch for them specifically but they have a few you may be interested in

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
