Wanted 375 H&H Mag Trim Die , File type. RCBS, Redding or C&H.

The Lee Quick Trim die is a pretty good tool. Lee is definitely the minority supplier on my bench but for what it is I’m a fan. Trimming brass is a real buzzkill unless you spring for a Giraud.

I was following your post as well because I'm due to purchase roughly the same thing. As far as I can tell, nothing is available on the net in the form of a traditional trim die to strike off the brass with a file for 375HH. As Bluegrass mentioned, this lee deluxe quick trim tool for around $30, plus the specific case trim die that goes with it for $14, looks like it works well. It looks like the large-bore "traditional" trim dies for things like 470NE are nearly $150 and special order. I couldn't identify whether something similar ever existed for 375HH so I'm waiting for a few more testimonials before I purchase the setup Bluegrass linked above for myself.

Giraud goes as big as 500 NE, but you need to buy the conversion kit for each cartridge. The entry price is steep too but man alive does it make trimming easy. Gives you the chamfer too. Caliber changes take ~5-10 minutes.

Is a form & trim die the same thing as a file trim die?

Redding lists a form & trim die for 375 H&H on their die charts.

Part # 83169 goes for $50.25.

Yes it is. Graf’s shows a retail price of about $34…but out of stock.

In the redding literature I just read what “form and trim” means. They do not resize the case nor do they require a full length sized case to be used. This is especially important for wildcatters or those forming brass from one caliber to the next because you don’t need to overwork the brass in a sizing die before you can trim it to length. It makes sense, but I did not understand the point of this until tonight.

Apologies to @Saddlemaker for the slight thread-jack of his advert but I was looking for the same sort of solutions as he was and couldn’t wrap my mind around this stuff. I’ll still end up buying the Lee option above unless someone chimes in explaining why not.

P.S. - Combed the web for this part number from Redding #83169. Brownells, Midway, Grafs, Precision Shooter, Buffalo Arms, etc, Etc. Everywhere shows out of stock or discontinued.

It is the same thing sorta.

Read every manufacturer manual AND item description carefully on what part you’re actually buying. A lot of these are die sets that are made for cartridge case conversions.

Thank you all, For your input , Larry Potterfield came though for me , With a Redding 375 H&H Trim Die

Have a good weekend guys

Yep.

About to order 6mm Dasher and 404J blades for it. Also, you can order an annealer if you want to go all in for brass maintenance. I prefer the one linked below. You might have to wait a bit for it to be back in stock though. They support every cartridge known to men including the .500 NE

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
