Im not too picky on rem mag or rigby. Do you have one for sale?
Im aware of the price range on what I'm looking for. 1500-15k. I can have a new Parkwest built for 13500 the way I want it but it's 10-12 months build time. Aware of the quality difference also, but for the right price I can have some work done to any rifle and make it suit meThere is a big difference in price and quality between a Win M70 and a Dakota 76. Especially if it were one of the early Dakotas, before 2009.
If you are looking in this range, you should also consider a CZ550 with an AHR 3 upgrade. That would put it at or above the pre-2009 Dakota depending on the timber.

I seen that. It's a nice rifle and doesn't appear to be going anywhere. I would like to see if there are any other options before I jump on the first thing I seeI asked because lefties don’t have the same options as righties, but a 416 Rem is not a desirable caliber, and a 416 Rigby is. You’re going to pay whatever you’re going to pay, but in a righty config a 416 Rig is much more desireable.
There is a very nice LH Dakota in 416 Rigby on GI right now for just over $8k. That gun is far more desirable than a 416 rem, and it costs $5000 less than a new Parkwest.
Why not the more valuable and more popular 416 Rigby? Way easier to find in fine arms, and has resale value the 416 Rem does not?

Hold the line on resellers and scalpers: the one listed for 5k on GB was purchased for 2400. Same guy is doing that with many left handed guns.Im really wanting a classic nice quality wood stock in a 416
Yeah, i was looking at that one myself; just upset that I missed it at auction and now it’s being resold for a much higher price.I may have to check that out…
I’d have to sell my 450 Dakota. That’s too nice of a rifle to do that. Plus I have enough ammo and reloading supplies to do the kind of hunting I want to do the next 10 years…Yeah, i was looking at that one myself; just upset that I missed it at auction and now it’s being resold for a much higher price.
Sadly, I know exactly what ones you are talking about.Hold the line on resellers and scalpers: the one listed for 5k on GB was purchased for 2400. Same guy is doing that with many left handed guns.
Not that I completely disagree with you on the issue as a strategy, but if there is a perceived, or even real, value on any resale rifle, I would consider it. Unless the seller somehow got it illegally. Hard to disparage a guy for getting good deals on rifles and offering at good resale value. It’s a free market and there are plenty of sellers on AH that offer nice rifles at great value and no one is questioning how they obtain them and/or at what cost. Im not sure that 5k for a rem 700 would qualify as a “good resale value” though. Im good with buying low and selling high, but at some point it gets ridiculous. In the end excessive greed will break them all. Bulls make money and bears make money, but eventually all greedy hogs get slaughtered. With the persistent inflation, terrible jobs market, and various eco indicators all pointing towards a downturn, I'm fine waiting for a bit.Not that I completely disagree with you on the issue as a strategy, but if there is a perceived, or even real, value on any resale rifle, I would consider it. That said, I like a great deal too! I just don’t have the time or energy to search and bid on rifles at discount auction houses or sites.
To each their own…
This exactly. The guy probably paid half of what he is asking and stuff isn't even going for half of some of the prices now. I was at a gun shop last week that sold more decent stuff and the guy said it's tough right now and sold me a new left handed rifle at less than cost because he didn't want to sit on it for any longer.Im not sure that 5k for a rem 700 would qualify as a “good resale value” though.
