Just shipped out 2 boxes of .375 H&H factory ammo from my local shipper who generally ships anything, anytime, as cheap as possible. They put it in the system and said it was almost $35! When questioned about this, they said they had been informed directly by UPS that they would not longer be accepting private ammo shipments in the US. The Post Office doesn't do it either, so now it's just FedEx and it looks like they know it. Be prepared for it to cost as much as the ammo to ship it in short order- I can only see this getting worse. Even bullets were ridiculous. One box went just over a pound so it was going to be over $15 to ship. Had them stick it in a P.O. flat rate so it was at least "only" $10.

and this my friends is why I reload... and why I have years worth of components on the bench...

Same here, that's why I was shipping factory ammo, came with the gun and thought I could make some money back. Turned out to be very little.....

:D

They will both still ship only if you set up an account, weigh it yourself, print your own label and drop it off at a franchised fed-ex or ups drop off. The corporate stores are trying to deny shipping.

Well, WTF?

Everthing has to be a game these days..... Still don't understand why the shipping place specifically said UPS told them they wouldn't take it anymore- sounds like an outright lie based on your info. They should be telling people they need to setup accounts, if this is accurate, not saying it can't be shipped.

My understanding is the only way UPS will ship ammo is to take it directly to one of their main shipping centers. If you are trying to ship from a drop off location or at the UPS Stores, this will not work. Now it is possible that this has changed so you should do some more research but this is how it was last fall and has been that way for a little while now.

It has to be shipped from a UPS Hub as I did last time as I understand it .

I shipped some last week with Fed Ex had no problems, but I may have forgotten to tell them that it was ammo.

Unfortunately it is a game. I’ve been denied by going to UPS and FedEx branded stores in Houston and being honest about what I’m trying to ship. They both told me they couldn’t take anything bullet or firearm related. Find a third party shipper, print postage and drop off. No questions asked and no problems.

As to powder, UPS will ship and drop off without a signature at receiving as long as hazmat is ok. FedEx has changed their stance and require a signature at delivery as of recently.

The lady at the Fed Ex counter and I have adopted a kind of don't ask don't tell kind of a relationship.

It is easy. UPS or FedEx

You have to ship from a hub NOT one of the stores. They will also pickup under the right circumstances

There are no additional charges to ship ammo.

Box it in a sturdy cardboard box, place the correct label which is a black and white diamond (just Google it). They may ask caliber because you can only ship up to 50 caliber.

When was last time you shipped ammo? I use to have no problems, but my UPS customer center/hub is no longer allowed to ship ammo and won’t accept it. The stores were never supposed to ship ammo.

Been a few months. They are still excepting it at the hubs.

Current info from UPS website

To add to my earlier post I once tried shipping a rifle through the Post Office. They refused to accept it. I went home printed the current regulations, went back, stood my ground until they accepted it, which they eventually did.

I have not had issues with UPS and much prefer them than FedEx whether I am shipping or receiving.

If they quit shipping ammo, my apologies, but I would be willing to bet it is an uneducated or lazy clerk that is not doing their job at certain locations.

What kind of start up money would it take to create a business for driving ammo for AH members to other AH members?

Asking for a friend.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
