On another thread about suppressors, someone mentioned the AB Raptor suppressor. I went to the AB website and did some research. The reflex mount is an interesting method to add suppressor volume without adding length. Is anyone running one of these? Do other manufacturers have anything similar?

Sounds like you are already leaning away from the Scythe Ti, but for what it’s worth I love mine.

I have about 300 rounds through a 20” 30-06. Dunked it in a river at one point and got soot plugging it up completely. Called SilencerCo and they walked me through cleaning it. Still working perfectly. Put it on a 16” AR-15, put 200 rounds though that, still working perfectly.

Unfortunately until SilencerCo lets us know how many they have sold in total, how many have had issues, and if any changes have been made in response to failures, the reports on the forum-that-cannot-be-named inherently suffer from participation bias that inflates the apparent frequency of issues. It might be the #1 selling can in its class with 99.9% reliability for all we know.

I have had issues with uber light Ti cans opening up grouping of rifles. “Heavier” steel cans almost always shrinks groups in my personal experience.

And I’m talking opening up big time.

And the Scythe most certainly has structural issues… where there is smoke there is fire. Even though some don’t seem to agree because “mine hasn’t exploded” lol

I just picked up my first suppressor, an AB A10 7.62. I've only put a box or so through it so far but I really like it. It makes American Eagle 5.56 sound like a high velocity .22lr. And its pretty cheap as silencers go, about $500.

Interesting, I haven’t experienced this with any of my TBAC cans on multiple different barrel profiles.

I Belive that! Those have been an exception to that rule, again from what I have seen.

Me and my friends have had nothing but issues with other super light cans.

Should have checked the suppressor first lol. Why it’s always good to test the rifle system before introducing a suppressor. Helps you understand the variables a little more clearly haha.

Go with the Otter Creek Labs Hydrogen (the "S" or "L" depending on your barrel length).

There is nothing wrong with the SilencerCo Scythe TI. You have a very wide range of silencers, try to find the one that reduces the sound most effectively and meets your requirements.

Check out Silencer Central they have a Backcountry that is short super and light weight. I have 2 from Silencer Central from experience you do not want an adapter for them you want a direct thread and most of theirs require an adapter at $150 each. My locking mechanism quit working so I had to send it in to be told they discontinued that lock and was stuck buying new adapters as the one I had it didn't fit. I have 2 guns I hop suppressors on so I was out $300 they do not warranty the locking mechanism. Plus they are heavy with the adapters.

They are direct now, and yes they are and we’re building a lot of the suppressors for other brands. They introduced a direct to store program last year. There current obstacle for them is a lot of people don’t know who they are, and the don’t go through silencer co or central or whatever the next kiosk outfit is around

Wow. Good news. I was behind the times. Looks like they have some new models out.

I think they may be the largest suppressor manufacturer in the country when you consider all the stuff they manufacture for other people.

Yes Sir, I'm a sales rep for them. They are releasing some cool stuff this year. The Alpha models are arguably the best hard use suppressors out there, rated at full auto.

The reflex or "over the barrel" (OTB) has been around for quite awhile, just not that prevalent. I can't speak to how well they work for noise suppression - I've heard differing opinions if AB's reflex helps at all in noise reduction. Dead Air has an OTB barrel version of the Nomad:

I’m exactly the same. Not had any accuracy issues with TI cans. Have two buddies shooting to the same cans with great accuracy.

Dead Air Nomad 30 for me! I’ve had great results from 300 WM to 6.5CM with the same can.
