I am interested in the upcoming SpaceX IPO. There seem to be many questionable and risky avenues of pre IPO exposure to SpaceX. The following is a link to what appears to be a SpaceX wallet where you may prepurchase shares of SpaceX. I think it's probably a scam.
I know there are some knowledgeable investors here and would like some feedback and opinions on this deal. TIA

Hiive is the current way to buy shares and you have to be an accredited investor with a $25k minimum purchase. Prices have been higher than normal now that the proposed IPO has been in the news. Here is the link:

This IPO could be the biggest in history. Elon Musk will undoubtedly be the richest man in the world for perhaps all-time or the foreseeable future afterwards.

IPO stocks usually go up significantly and within 30-60 days they are usually lower than at the start. This IPO might be different, however. I will definitely buy some shares at some point. Starlink alone is a game changing company and could represent a once in a generation opportunity. Think Google, Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, etc… type of opportunity?

Google (now Alphabet) went public on August 19, 2004, at an IPO price of $85 per share. Through a "Dutch auction" method, the stock opened at $100 and closed at $100.34 on its first day. Adjusted for two stock splits over the past 20 years, one of which was 2 for 1 and other 20 for 1, that initial value reflects a gain of over 6,500%!!

I believe SpaceX will be a stock to own.

We are a significant owner of SpaceX. The $2T ipo valuation being bantered about would have the secondary market per share valuation at somewhere $600-610 a share. I think I see quotes around $660? The underwriters are going to try and sell 25-33% of the offering to "retail" investors. If I were you, i'd just buy on the ipo. It is timed to be in June if there are no setbacks with the SEC.

Thanks for the information @Hornedfrogbbq and @Scott CWO. Much appreciated.
Keep in mind that if you buy IPO shares, there will be a holding period in which you will not be able to sell them. This is to prevent speculation, uncontrollable volatility and immediate profit taking. I think this company will be something to own long term anyway. As I said earlier, usually the share price comes down from the IPO price but who knows? Stock prices for good companies then will usually slowly rise as they prove themselves, as Google and other good companies normally do.

If you buy shares on the open market or upon issuance in an ipo, they are freely-tradable immediately. The shares we have (pre-ipo) are frequently locked up for 6 months.

It will be interesting to see what the S1 says on lock-ups and if they stagger them. It has been filed but privately. It should be out public between now and mid May.

Sorry to disagree with you but I have been doing this for 35 years and never once is a share that is issued on IPO or bought in the market the day of the initial offering locked up in any way shape or form. Pre-ipo and insiders yes, issued to the public, no.

Yes, retail investors who receive shares directly through an IPO allotment can generally sell them immediately upon listing on the exchange. However, selling within 30–120 days is often classified as "flipping" by brokerages like Robinhood and SoFi, which may result in penalties or temporary bans from future IPOs.

Interesting. I did not know there was a "flipping" clause in those exchanges. We don't use them but that is good to know! Thanks for sharing.

SoFi Fees for sales of shares purchased through an IPO offering on SoFi.

$50.00 fee for the first sale within 120 days of IPO

$5.00 fee for each subsequent sale within 120 days of IPO.

Why not just buy through a regular broker...someone in the syndicate?

If anyone is looking for a good speculative bet. I will be selling some Domain names that I have registered.

Rokisasaki.com and others.

The speculation is if Roki has a good season with the Dodgers l. the domain names will increase in value.

I did that back in the late 90s early 20s with mixed results. Best of luck to you.

It was a wide open market back then. You could just lock down every simple phrase or word and hope somebody wanted it in the future. Now it’s hard to find something that isn’t taken and or that somebody may want.

I locked down Roki’s domain back when he was in high school in Japan, hoping he would be the next Japanese phenom in the MLB
I’m confident he will be. But he is struggling so far. Obviously you can’t wait until they are the Dodgers number one guy. Or the domain would be worth 6 or 7 digits.
Speculation at its finest.

Current thoughts on the SpaceX IPO
For those already in it, it can be shockingly large returns. The book is multiple times oversubscribed at the IPO price. S&P NOT letting it in is shocking to me given the size of the company and AI/Space/Defense being leading sectors driving GDP but I respect the quality standard.

I think everyone is going to get a lesson about the word, "trillion" soon. It sounds like "billion" but is unfathomably different.

SON WANTS TO BUT I'M NOT BUYING... YET

Hello,
I might be able to help you out depending on how many you need. I could probably spare 50-75 .285g A-Frames. They are factory pulls that look like new. Let me know if you are still looking,
Thanks,
Gary

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.
