SOUTH AFRICA: Question For Tootabi Hunting Safaris

He was banned, the company was banned and both will continue to be permanently banned from AH.

.................. and very recently even more good reasons came to light that support the decision.

Can these be shared, don't seem to find in simple google search?

FWIW, I have personally had no issues and have always been treated well. But I don't hang around as as much here at ah.com because I have got some flak for saying so. However, Tootabi just received EC Outfitter of the Year Award from WRSA so there's probably plenty of other happy clients besides me?

Basically he was removed from the Site for not following the rules.
That's correct but Loodt still comes to the states every year and does the show circuit. I visited him at the Salt Lake Western Hunting and Conservation Expo the last two years.

If you want to do some further research for yourself:

  • Review the hunt reports and determine which Outfitters USED to work with him and then compare it to who no longer does so. A good question to then ask is; Why not?

  • Contact the local Outfitters in the EC and ask them about any information about pending legal matters in their locale.

Nothing wrong with being a happy client at all.

I did hear about a EC branch of WRSA proffering an award. Not sure what the basis of the award is. Do you have any idea?

Wildlife Ranching SA.

I agree but others not so much. Nothing terribly bad but ended up making ah.com little less fun for me.

I have no idea about the award. Just figured I would mention it and let people make their own call.

It's information and I just like to find out what the accolades really mean.

PHASA award from peers I'd understand readily. Not sure what WRSA really does. My ignorance.

It's a wildlife ranching organization, and it does seem to have some credibility in that area. Wiaan van der Linde, who is a gentleman through and through, won the award a few years back, but for his ranching, not for his hunting (that's not a comment on his hunting business - I have been a repeat client and hope to be so again).

Not sure what, if anything, it means for hunting.

At the risk of being a broken record, there are two outfitting businesses with "Tootabi" in their name. Loodt's is the second (he started his after the other). The other Tootabi (Beans du Preez is the owner) is a first rate business, which I would recommend highly.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
