Smaller trophy room ideas sought...

Beautiful ducks! I really like them! Good luck on your continued quest!

I've never had the chance to hunt waterfowl, but I've got around 60 decoys of various types. I've never trapped, but I have around 4 dozen traps of various types. I just enjoy hunting, fishing, trapping items! Really enjoying this thread! Thank you Tundra Tiger for starting this thread, and for allowing us be a part of it!

We removed the ceiling in this room and vaulted the ceiling. Put in some cedar timber cross beams. Gave us more height on either end of the room. We put 1/2" plywood behind the sheetrock for mounting stability for game heads. Added corner book shelve & cabinets for memorabilia I have collected.

This is a great idea, behind my finished walls there is a layer of 1/2" plywood. That way I can hang even the heaviest of trophies anywhere I want on the wall without looking for a stud.
I too am doing an extension. We have a very high screened in porch under roof we do not use. We will be closing it in for my new office/trophy room. The key for me is your idea of putting 1/2 inch plywood over the studs then dry walling. Thanks

Nomadx2, beautiful room! Just beautiful!

Guys I have to correct my last post, guess I'm getting too old to multitask. The two standing ducks in the last photo are Blue wing teal not Green wing teal. Sorry for any confusion.

@Nomadx2 .... Love the room. And we seem to have similar tastes in fiction.

I would suggest that one wall be vertical pine boards.
It makes a nice contrast to the rest of the room and it's easy to hang mounts or pics or anything in any place. No searching for wall studs to hang heavy stuff and simple to move, or change the display every year or so to keep it fresh and new.
Yes and on the other walls put 3/4” plywood under the sheet rock so you can hang anything anywhere.

Probably not an option for the @Tundra Tiger project but for anyone making room plans, you might consider a shelf like the one above the walls that separate my office from the rest of the room. Gives me room for more full body floor type mounts without taking up more floor space and the extra walls give me more room for shoulder mounts and art inside my office and on the outside.

Just because it's not in my budget/circumstances doesn't mean I can't appreciate it. That looks terrific @Scott CWO.

That's a great idea. Sending it to the wife now [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

No, seriously. She'll like it.

Scott CWO, that looks great!

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
