I am selling a beautiful all original Simson Model 76E (ejector gun) with true side locks ornately engraved. This shotgun was made under the GDR. German Democratic Republic. During this time up until 1990 both Simson and Merkel were produced in the same plant together on the same lines with models being made mostly identical with the exception of engraving patterns and even then, they were identical in some situations. Simson's are underrated because everyone is familiar with Merkel. This model was made in response to compete with best quality guns in Europe.

This Simson spares no expense in quality, as it is ornately engraved on every screw head and every panel of the gun, including the breach ends of the shotgun barrels. The bluing is perfect in condition as well as the coin finished receiver. A (247SL today (Which is the equivalent of this gun) will cost between $8500-$10000.00+ of this quality. Back in the 70's up until 1990 I believe it was the Merkel 122E that was the equal version of this gun under the GDR (East Germany).

This shotgun has deep relief engraving of a Fox and Partridges on one side and Hares on the other side as well as elaborate scrolls and borders right down to the butt plate screws. The gun is tight as not ever been shot much at all. It appears in 98% or better condition, ejectors timed perfectly, double triggers, auto safety, European factory sling swivels and beautiful 22 LPI fine checkering on a solid piece of black walnut. Just a great example of German Quality.

28" Barrels Choked Full & Mod
LOP to Front Trigger - 14 5/8"
LOP to Rear Trigger - 13 5/8"
DAC - 1 1/2"
DAH - 2 3/8"
Weight 7lbs 2oz

I am asking $
2,800.00 for this gun shipped. This is a great deal on a fine shotgun.

You have the best looking guns I've seen. If I wasn't waiting on the Model 70's, This would be a great shotgun to have.

By the way it is 2 3/4" chambers (70mm) on this gun!

May be a bit on the 70s as I was going to wait closer to hunting season on them.

Can't believe this made it this long on here! This gun is a nice one and a bargain... may have to post it on GunBroker...

Does the rear trigger fire the modified barrel?

Right or left hand cast on the gun?

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
