Shipping to EU

I have a friend who shot an Axis here in Texas and wants to ship it back to the EU. She was told that Shipping and Taxidermy would be "all in" at Approx 2k. Now she is being told shipping alone 2-4K. Does anyone have experience shipping taxidermy to the EU? If so, what paperwork is required. Any tips would be great. Thanks.

I haven't got this racket figured out yet. One can go on eBay and buy all sorts of trophies, hides, pelts, etc and ship them to and from worldwide without benefit of a broker. I will note getting an Ibex out of Spain is more expensive than a full bag out of anywhere I have hunted in Africa

No, but other things. Try looking for seafreight instead of airfreight! I used to order hunting and fishing equipment from the US when the exchange rates were more favourable. If I recall correctly, I paid customs duties on top of product price, transportation cost, insurance and handling fees. And then I also had to pay VAT on top of everything. It added up ...
