With new policies from UPS and Fedex it is not as simple to ship firearms anymore. Basically both the receiver and the shipper has to be registered with them as FFLs. That makes it kind of hard for folks that are not FFLs.

I recently sold my Heym 88B .500 NE to the person I had bought it new a few years ago. I had to ship it from CA to MI. Now, USPS allows shipment of long guns from a person to an FFL, but all the FFLs said it had to come from another FFL.

Well, enter ShipMyGun.com , they are a division of BudsGunShop.com and provide the shipping label. It is as simple as picking an FFL from the destination zip code and entering the details. Caveat, one has to pick an FFL that is already registered with them (sent their FFL info), if yours does not they'll have to send the info. The buyer picked one, I submitted and had a shipping label two hours later.

I paid $24.54 for the label, a 20 pound package, just out of curiosity I asked UPS how much it would cost if I generated a label and paid for it, their response $190!!! Guess, shipmygun.com has a contract with them.

I heartily recommend them.

Ship My Gun works great. The only caveat as I understand it is the gun has to be dropped off at a UPS hub, not one of the 'stand alone' UPS stores, or given to a UPS driver. UPS has closed many of their hubs so it's not as easy anymore. The FFL I use charges a minimal amount to box and then ship any guns, so I use that service instead.

That's incorrect, notice tracking that said dropped off at UPS store. As a matter of fact they stated to drop it off at a UPS store rather than mail boxes etc. type of store.

They must have changed their procedure then. I tried to drop one at the UPS store about a year ago and they refused it.

They likely refused it because you told them it was a firearm. Despite whatever the company policy is, 99% of the time if you tell the employee it’s a firearm, or firearm part they’ll refuse service. Even if using the appropriate shipping service listed above. I’m not sure if it they are genuinely afraid of messing something up or if it has something to do with their personal beliefs/politics, probably the latter.

They did ask me what it was, my response was "metal art" which in reality was not lying.

You're probably correct. I told them it was a firearm because I didn't want to lie and then have it damaged in shipping and try to collect on a $2000 piece of 'metal art'!

If it’s a 3rd Party UPS/FedEx location they aren’t allowed to take in firearms. It has something to do with the storage of them throughout the day until pick-up. You can lie to them or just drop it off, but know if the gun gets lost or damaged they will use your drop off location as a way to get out of paying the insurance. Ask me how I know …

I’ve got an approved account for shipping firearms with both UPS annd FedEx and still have issues. I regularly use USPS because it’s cheaper and easier. If I’m shipping any sort of expensive firearm over $10k, I ship USPS Registered Mail.

One thing, my previous insurance company "Collector's Insurance" would not pay any claims if a firearms was shipped via UPS. Hence, the reason I switched to someone else this year.

I ship through a locally owned shipping company that will ensure it goes the proper and legal way. Whether it be USPS, FedEx, or UPS they know the rules and will handle it without any consternation. So don't ask me the rules I have no idea and just rely on The Shipping Point!

I will be looking for a set of these when my .505 is done... sadly not cashed up right now for these. :(
Need anything in trade?
Cheers,

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
