My Quigley rifle is shipping today after just over 3 years. I was told 2 years when I ordered it. Should see it in a few days, but still have the 2 week waiting period to sit thru but after 3 years I can do that standing on my head!

Will post up a pic or two when I see it.

Cal is .45-110, the Quigley caliber.

May i ask why/where there is a 2 week wait for a Single shot? Not being negative i was just wondering .

Hi Don,

In Washington state, they passed a law a few years ago mandating a 10 business day wait for ALL firearms. So with weekends and holidays it can stretch to 16 days.
It sucks but it is what it is, no way around it.

Wooden buckets have gone into hiding.

What bullets do you plan on using? Will you load black powder or smokeless? I can’t wait for the pictures.
Any and all at some point. Was going thru my stash today and found a lot of lead bullets from my last Sharps, have black powder and everything needed to load it.
To begin with I will shoot smokeless and jacketed.

I Have an older Farmingdale made Shiloh Sharps , 50-70. One of my Favorites -but Ammunition/Brass are extremely hard to find and when I do its usually insane price. I have a good supply but you know, we could never have enough Ammo

Talk about insane prices. I recently saw I think it was 20 pcs of new brass for the .45-110 go for something over $400.
Fortunately I got in a pretty good supply a couple of years ago and probably enuf for my needs till they throw dirt in my face.

Would the .45-110 be the close equivalent to the .458 win mag ? Using smokeless gunpowder?
Glad your gun is coming!!! They are beautiful rifles. Didn’t mean to high jack your post , you just got me thinking!!!

Ha, no worries. In fact if loaded up to full snuff, its dang near there, but probably wont be much fun to shoot. The later Lyman manuals shows some fierce stuff that I want no part of.

The wait will be worth it I'm sure! I went to the Quigley shoot in Montana one year just for grins. We were out there on vacation. Pretty neat to watch those guys bang steel at long range with those rifles and the iron sights.

It's worth the wait. I love the Shilohs and have a few. Find some brass and hang on to it! Looking forward to your photos.

Congrats on the Quigley..........hope you get to ring some steel with it, but they also make a pretty fine hunting rifle if you don't have to carry it too far. I have sold two Shiloh '74's on this site, have only one left.......a 40-65 in the light weight Jaeger model. A Ruger No. 1 in 45-70 makes a pretty good black powder gun, and I shoot that quite a bit also.....it is not the quality of a Shiloh, but still fun to shoot, and I have taken 17 head of game with it in Africa. I mostly shoot black, but 10 grains of Re-7 under the Fg or CTG charge shoots clean all day, but as you're a Shiloh man you probably have your own recipes....looking fwd to pics............FWB

New to the .45-110, but had a C. Sharps in .45/70 and shot mostly black with it. Its just more of the same, longer case.

Yes there is ,,,, move

Any of Mike Venturino's books or Paul Matthew's books on the subject are very helpful on BPCR shooting, cleaning, reloading, casting, etc. I refer to them often.
