SCI On NBC

Hunting is our heritage! I would not be the same person I am today if hunting and the outdoors had not been such an integral part of my youth!
I totally disagree with the thought process of well we cant win the argument so we shouldn't argue! If our founding fathers had not been willing
to loose everything even their lives we would not be living in the USA! Hell its not just our right it is our moral obligation to stand up, be counted and make
ourselves heard. Turning a blind eye to something doesn't make it go away! I know most of the people on here are just as passionate about our way of life as I am.
We need to civilly educate people and defend our point of view whenever and wherever we can.
Climbing off my soap box now , lol

5 to 8 minutes.... ..hopefully I am wrong ....but I dont see in that time period that they will be able to answer the questions that will be put to them in a way that will put much positive across... . And am sure the interviewer will be interrupting to press a or certain point/s so cutting time even more.....
let hope your wrong.

@Shootist43 There is a lot more to this story... almost too much to go into here. Needless to say Tess and her husband, along with myself flew to NYC to do this interview. It's not a cut and dry as to say Tess cancelled the interview, there is so much more to this that I would be happy to explain over a phone call rather then type for days. At any rate, I did several interviews on this issue personally and of course these are taped interviews so much gets left out with their creative editing.

@wesheltonj
I understand your opinion of going on these types of interviews are a mistake as our PR consultants usually say the same, but I did several interviews anyway despite their warnings. It's a double edged sword... damned if I do, damned if I don't. Every time some sort of controversial issue pops up, SCI gets dozens of requests for interviews, many of which we turn down. The funny thing is, if I didn't do the interview I would be criticized for not taking a stand and speaking out. When I agree to do an interview, you will say it was a mistake. Quite the dilemma for me, but during my tenure as SCI President, I have chosen to try to be more outspoken, be more proactive, and go on the offense to represent the voice of hunters rather do nothing or worse, work from a defensive position. Did any of my message get out? Maybe or maybe not, but I have a responsibility to try. I will say doing these interviews is no picnic, as I am not a professional speaker and it is certainly not my strongest quality but I made a commitment when I became president to take the fight to the antis and that's what I have tried to do. Have I been successful? It's hard to measure, but if I can change one non hunter's opinion with the real facts, then I feel I have been successful. I will never change the mind of a rabid anti-hunter, but there is a great majority of those who are non-hunters.... they just don't hunt and are on the fence because they just don’t know, but if all they hear is the anti-hunting side, then that's what they’ll believe. So be damned if I do, or damned in I don't I will continue to try to be the voice of hunters and lawful gun owners if the need arises rather than sit back and do nothing at all.

Good hunting, Paul

Good hunting, Paul

Thanks for coming back to visit with us here on AH. I very much appreciate the work you have done and effort made on behalf of hunters.

@CAustin I appreciate the comment and support. I appreciate everyone's opinions here and I will try to get on more frequently as much as I can. Myself and SCI get our fair share of criticism, here and elsewhere and I really believe the great majority of folks who comment, do so because they care about hunting and the industry. What I hope everyone understands is that myself and the rest of the volunteer leadership are trying to make a difference.
