Saw this on a FB page today

The way that I see it is if you don't like it you don't have to look at it.

To see what everyone is talking about I had to increase the picture size.

As for FB that is one reason that I only allow friends and family to view my pictures. I had one person complain and I just told them that if they don't like it then they can unfriend me, they did the next day.

I agree. It’s just plain embarrassing to have an African themed trophy room like that without a Cape buffalo mount.
The cape are there, they just aren't visible in that angle. I'm very familiar with that trophy room, and the one next to it, and the one on the other side.

Yeah I have no reason to want to portray it as anything other than what it is. What I posted above is a screenshot. Just informing you and others in the audience where it can be found. It was borrowed from one of the followers of that page with their permission I never would have seen that head.....as you can see from my screenshot above over 111,400 people also follow the page and I'm guessing very few of them have noticed it either. Some liberal snowflake is never going to look that far into the picture.....they are going to see a bunch of mounted animals and immediately be triggered anyways. You could say the masks over the bar offend me too because they are also presumably of black people and they have big lips, etc. Where does it end?
So is it ok to display a black man's head in a trophy room (not the African masks you mentioned) even if a liberal or tree hugger doesn't see it?

I must apologize; I did not discover the specific item driving Brickburn's post until I read deeper into the thread.

If I may be so bold as to echo Brickburn's observation:

We, as hunters, are subjected to excessive scrutiny, criticism - both substantiated and unsubstantiated, and undergo constant attack. With that many enemies - we would do well not become our own.

I follow that page, and no, among the clutter, I did not notice the black man´s head.

It is in poor taste, to put it some way !

It’s unbelievable how hunters and conservationists continue to attack and bring negative attention to other hunters and conservationists. This is why it’s a dying breed and why my grandkids probably wont have a place to hunt. Keep up the finger pointing. Unreal.

If I am reading your post correctly, I think you are pointing at the wrong congregation. Some imbecile took a black man's head, stuck it on a hippo tusk, in what any non hunter would call an African trophy room, and then posted a photo including it on the equivalent of every post office bulletin board in country. We are supposed think nothing about it because we are the ones bringing negative attention to hunters? If hunters don't use some common sense, we'll do all the dying by ourselves.

Wow - is there a plaque indicating who shot the wooly mammoth and where the hide was tanned? :E Angel:
After further examination of the pic I'm more concerned that there are Bison out there bleaching heart shapes on the side of their bodies.

 Gang thing? Prison tat equivalence? This needs to be investigated.

First thing I did when I saw and read this thread was go to that FB page and have a gander for myself at what's there.

I fall on the side of yeah, it's in bad taste, just as it was when Kathy Griffin decided to pose holding Trump's head.

However my takeaway from seeing the FB page was I am embarrassed at the lack of trophy presentation in my own house and in my own life. Dear heavens! Seeing some of the trophy rooms and displays on there? Kinda made me feel akin to George Costanza on the shrinkage episode of Seinfeld, trying not to be noticed amongst a host of male porn stars. I REALLY need to up my game.

Here’s an idea. How about everyone wise up and stay off garbage social media sites where for the price of every bit of information you give them you get all the vitriol, divisiveness, hatred and contempt you can stand.
I’d say the plan is working wonderfully.

I should have added that if the divisiveness isn’t bad enough on the original site it spreads like fire to sites like this one. This whole thread makes the point for me.

@Red Leg I respect the opinions you have and enjoy the insight you offer to this forum.
I willing to bet if you post pics of your trophy, gun , library whatever rooms you have worked hard to collect over a lifetime. Someone will take offense to something in those room. Regardless if they know the back story or not.

It’s a fake mask on a tooth. My style? no but…. Definitely wouldn’t repost to bring negativity to my passion of hunting.

Wasn’t this thread started by the same person who closed the “Politcs” thread because of disagreement.

Confusing bit to me.

So, if this trophy room is so offensive, and how its content only hurts our cause, then why give it more publicity by posting it on this forum. Asking for a friend.

I doubt the owner of that trophy room posted that photo.

You as well. But if we can't discuss issues like this here, where do they get discussed by people like us?

This is one of the few places that hunters can get together and discuss the ethics surrounding our pastime. Here, I have been exposed to any number of points of view that I would otherwise likely have never considered.

I wonder if the shooting school ever considered the negative view many would have of sticking a black man's head in a hippo's mouth. Probably not until they finally get a black client?

A couple of members on the Politics thread decided the best way to make a point was to personally and profanely attack those with whom they disagreed. Another new member apparently was an unapologetic bigot. Time out was probably in order.

Agree it's in poor taste but what isn't these days? For all intents and purposes, there is nothing left that is sacred.

So is it ok not to finger point to a tasteless racist regardless of him being a hunter or not?
Future of hunting depends on decent people who represent themselves in the best manner and taste.
This is the best place to call out people like him and clean the house so to speak.

That’s my issue,
is he a racist??? I think he’s just a redneck who hates democrats. Have you seen the stuff they say about Joe Biden? And he’s a white guy….

Obama care this, taxes this, ect. Ect. They just hate politicians. The people who seem to be offended the most are the only ones who bring up that hes black. I see many examples of this. People who take it upon them to have moral high ground bring up race relations constantly to elevate themselves in today’s society.

Virtue signaling to the max going on
