Savage 110 with E.R. Shaw 35 Whelen, 24" barrel, 1:14" twist. Boyds stock, Timney trigger breaks between 2-1/4 and 2-1/2# according to my gauge. 8.5# with scope bases. Maybe 30 rounds down the barrel, shoots well.

As @Bob Nelson 35Whelen will tell you, this cartridge is terrible so I'm saving up for a .243 :LOL:

$900

@Rimshot
As you are saving up for a 243 why don't you get a 358 win barrel from Shaw's at the same time. Make sure you get a Savage in 243 that way you can do the barrel change as well. That way you will still a have a baby Whelen that when loaded properly will almost equal the old factory Whelen
When you do the barrel swap send me a PM so I can give you an adress to send the 243 barrel to, I need a few more tomato stakes as this looks like a good year for them.

There's no need to be rude Bob!
243 is perfectly viable cartridge for a rabid chipmunk.....

@93marlin
I was trying to be nice by offering to have the barrel and put it to a better use.
It would want to be a very sick chipmunk for the 243 to work on.

A fellow member on this forum that I have hunted with has finally realised the 243 is a pos for anything bigger than a field mouse and is retiring it to a bunny rifle. A couple of weeks ago he South a couple of fallow deer with a 243 loaded with Remington 100gn PPSP. First one went down with a nice shoulder shot and the bullet was found as a text book picture on the offside. Deer No 2 received exactly the same shot and went down. As he was walking over to them deer No 2 got up and ran off. Despite searching for it for a long time he couldn't find it.. This is not the first time this has happened to him but it will now be the LAST. That pos is now his rabbit rifle from now on as he CAN'T trust it to do the job EVERY time.
Amen he has seen the light.

You just have to love Bob…you know anything but a 35 Whelen and he will look down his nose at it…the tomato patch stick is funny though

A 300WM for 2.5k shots???? good luck

Starting at 400 and out to 1 km
I’ve shot at 1800m using 300

I figure that will be my limit w 300
Graduate to say 338 L for longer shots
Time will tell

You can only try, we are not playing for sheep stations.

even with a 300, that's lobbing a round that far. Yeah I was thinking more like 338LM or even better 416 CT

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

X5i scope is perfect - thanks for an easy transaction! Buy with confidence.
Made it to Augusta Georgia yesterday for a meeting, hunt bookings are looking good for 2026 and 2027, had a great time on our Alabama safari shot a rutting deer at 200 yards with 7mm PRC near Huntsville and then headed on to Butler Alabama and semi guided my first deer ever shot a very nice broken off 8 point with hunter there and spend a few days on 1100 acres hunting preserve awesome place!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
