Sako 90 Hunter 375 H&H

I just recently acquired this new Sako 90 Hunter in 375 H&H. This Hunter model in 375 is largely unavailable in the USA, so I was lucky to snag this one from a dealer who made a large international order from Sako. As you can see it has the straight stock with pancake cheek piece. I haven’t fired it or even mounted a scope yet, but I have cycled a few rounds through it and it feeds very well. While it isn’t a CRF rifle, it does have dual plunger ejectors, which eject the cartridges out at a near 90 degree angle. I do believe this will take care of the ejection problem they sometimes experienced with the model 85.
Weight is 7lbs 15oz.
Barrel length is 24.5”
I’m looking forward to shooting it and reporting back.

What is the length of pull on the Sako 90?
Cheers

Sako is such a great brand, I have owned several…if someone wants a 375 H&H this is perfect at a great price

I just got my Sako Bavarian 375, I like the cheek well to line up with the scope. FYI , if you want to get extra Mag,s for them , they are the same as the SAKO 85.I used the Waren vertical spilt rings for a TIKA. and they fit perfectly.

Toby,

I have three sets of Warne QD, vertically split rings.

On a 308, a light 375, and a 416 Remington.

All have held zero perfectly and returned to zero within half moa or less.

I think you should try them on your new Sako.

I agree they are kinda of a pain to get the scopes mounted, but once you’re done you’re done in my experience.
I use the warne verticals on a .416 Rigby, 45/70 and others over the journey, they work well.

The Bavarian is already out in the USA. I don’t care for the stock on those, so I waited until I found the Hunter version for that reason. Apparently the Hunter models are mostly unavailable in the USA in 375 caliber.

I’m not overly thrilled about the scope mounting choices as of yet. Even though the rifles they’re making with pic rails on top don’t look as good as these rifles, it sure does make it easy to mount a scope with many more options to choose from.

Nice rifle, be great if you can have the scope low to go with the low bolt lift & not have shells bounce back into the action ?

I love the Sakos all but don’t believe any new models are DG rifles.

Strangely we have them with the picatinny/weaver base built in.

With the current extractor set up, you can mount the scope as low as you want and it will still eject. This rifle doesn’t have the pic rail scope mount arrangement. It takes Tikka scope bases.

I'm glad that they seem to have dropped the ugly military style pic rail and went with the sleeker Tikka style scope mounting grooves. This seems like a great rifle. I might have to buy one now.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
